Kochi will grow into a big metropolis provided necessary conditions exists.
then, whole of Kerala itself can be considered a big city from Manjeshwara to Kaliyikkavila. within 3-5kms towns are forming unlike other parts of the country.

Not trying to rabble rouse here or troll.. Just a genuine observation.. As a person of Lankan origin i have found to much surprise how similar people from SL and Kerala are to the rest of the region.. Especially after i started to post in the forum and have come across a lot of Indians(Unfortunately)

The thought process's, Out look on life in general, Attitudes towards religion, coexistence, Politics, Even food and culture are remarkably on a similar wave length.. SL may be closer to TN geographically but a way more closer to Kerala in life

yes,North Ceylon looks like nadu and south,especially coastal tracts like puttalam,ampara,gali,kolombo and also hill terrains kandy,mattara looks exactly like Kerala...
yes,there are many cultural similarities between malayalis,eelam Tamils and Sinhalese...
especially between Malayalam and jaffna,batticaloa Tamil dialects(there are many words in common,not found in Tamilnadu Tamil dialects)
foods like puttu(pittu),idiyappa,appam(hoppers),aviyal,thiyyal etc..
matrilineal clan system
use of coconut milk in food preparation
even in clothings..

I remember working with a rally team who came from Kashmir and drove down to Kanyakumari..... They were on their last leg of journey..... And they said one thing.... Kerala is a Big city.... Wont know when the city starts or ends.....

Cool.. Did Nair's derive from Nayakkar's or they are only Telingu's ? Because the last king of Kandy was from a Nayakkar dynasty (By marriage to his grandfather)

nope ,don't know about the orgin of the word 'nair'..naickers are basically telegus,though many are settled in Tamilnadu also and now identified as Tamils..
actually we malayalis have no cultural closeness with Tamilnadu Tamils or telegus...

They are more similar than any other Indian community to Lankans.. Maybe it's the weather.. Who knows ?

because we malayalis and sinhalese loves Tamils too much...

In South Kerala, Tamil tribal castes like Nadars converted into protestant church forming Church of South India(CSI).

what Tamil tribal castes?????::firstly they are not Tamils,they may have Tamil origin but that too very long time ago...they are now fully blended into malayali community..they are as much malayali we are..don't you know that Malayalam film star sathyan was a malayali nadar??

Don't think so. they have the tamil tribal customs still preserved even though many of them are assimilated into Malayali identity. cross the Kaliyikkavila border, and their Tamil Nadar brothers are spread all over there.The Tamils in highranges also remains as archaic Madurai/Theni stuff(സംസ്കാരമില്ലാത്ത) even after crossing to Kerala. *I am well aware that Tamilians in the Trivendrum border as well as Nagerkovil,Kanyakumari district sometimes can speak Malayalam and are closer to Travancore. * So, NO - they aren't Malayalees in proper sense.

OT: Infact, our state Capital should be genuinely at some where at the middle like Thrissur or Kochi. Malabar and parts of central Kerala are always neglected by the Capital lobby.

nope..its quite natural along border areas..we could see a vibrant malayali influence upto kuzhithurai river(i don't know its correct name..the river between kuzhithurai and marthandam town)..and also in kulashekaram,thripparappu areas(both we can see a strong malayali nair culture).
...reg-Kerala nadars,they are distantly different Tamil nadars.may be you could view some closeness in culture/facial appearance..but they themselves try to keep a distance from Tamil nadar counterparts and identify as malayalis..we don't separate anyone based on their orgin...in fact all castes in Kerala have separate orgin..like eezhavas from srilanka,Nairs/nambus from nepal,knanya from syria etc etc....

not entirely...mostly local hindu/may be Buddhists too(eezhavas were Buddhist at the time they came to Kerala) + Jewish traders....
