Hello my dear friends,I am going through a phase through which almost every student has gone through.I thought I could use some of your advice!

I am 3rd year B.E Mechanical Engineering student,and will be completing my B.E on 2015.I am civil services aspirant and wishes to become a IFS officer. I am at dilemma on how to reach my goal.

Please understand that,Engineering is not exactly my cup of tea,not that I can't handle it (I have a grade point of 8.2),but it doesn't really have my heart. But on the other hand I love social studies,Indian history etc.

1.Should I dedicate one full year for a civil service coaching after my BE and then try my luck? Since my chances are really slim that I will make it in the first attempt, I hope to pursue my ME after that one year,with civil service coaching in parallel.

2.Or should I join for a ME program,and then carry on with the civil service coaching in parallel with it?

3.Or should I join for some other course (suggest me some) which will better suit my taste and benefit my career,and then carry out my civil service coaching?

Help will be appreciated!

Your academic record seems good.If you are too interested in Civil service then you must go for civil service coaching.IFS if you mean Indian Foreign Service,you need one hell of hardwork and luck.Because IFS is usually opted by top most ranks in civil service exam.
If you go for ME then you cant ensure that much when you deal with Civil service.
If you are extrabrilliant then it is ok.I dont know whether you are.
Otherwise if you are serious about Civil Service ,dropping ME is the best.

I will suggest you to go for Civil services ...and give your 100% towards this... For couple of year just forget outer world and relationship.

He took three attempt...

First attempt he reached till final interview....But not selected.
Second attempt he did not crossed 2nd hurdle.
Finally he made it in third attempt...

Here you have to work real hard no doubt in that... I did not saw his face from last around 4 years...In the same time he was severing Indian Air Force.

Ohhh I didnt get this notification.

You know most of the mech guys that I know of or are in my friends
circle have changed their branch after finishing their BE.
Most of them took up MBA and changed their field to finance and other branches which are not really related to mech engg.
But now that I see you say that you want to join IFS then go for it lil bro.
And I think @shree835 has already given you some sound advice I would reinforce the same.

വെള്ളയമ്പലം വാട്ടര്‍ വര്‍ക്‌സിന് മുന്‍പിലുള്ള വീടാണ് അച്ച്യുതന്‍ നായരുടെ രാമപുരത്തെ വീടായി മാറിയത്. ഇന്ന് അവിടെ ഫ്‌ളാറ്റ് ഉയരുകയാണ്. മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്റേയും പാര്‍വ്വതിയുടേയും വീടായി ചിത്രത്തില്‍ കാണിക്കുന്നത് നടന്‍ കാലടി ജയന്റെ വീടാണ്. വീടിന്റെ രണ്ട് ഭാഗങ്ങളാണ് രണ്ട് വീടായി ചിത്രീകരിച്ചത്. അച്ഛനെ തല്ലിയ കീരീക്കാടനെ ആളറിയാതെ സേതുമാധവന്‍ തല്ലുന്നത് ആര്യനാട് ജംഗക്ഷനിലാണ് ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്തത്.

ആര്യനാടിന് അടുത്തുള്ള പള്ളിവേട്ടയിലാണ് ക്ലൈമാക്‌സ് എടുത്തത്. ഇന്ന് ഇവിടം കോണ്‍ക്രീറ്റ് കെട്ടിടങ്ങള്‍ കൈയ്യടക്കി. മലയാളികളുടെ നൊമ്പരമായ കണ്ണീര്‍ പൂവിന്റെ കവിളില്‍ തലോടി ഗാനം ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്തത് വെള്ളായണി കായലിന് പുറകിലെ വയലുകളിലും പാലത്തിലും ആയിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് ഈ പാലം കീരീടം പാലമെന്ന് പ്രശസ്തി നേടി.

എല്ലാം നഷ്ടമായ സേതുമാധവന്‍ കാമുകിയോട് യാത്ര പറയുന്ന രംഗത്തിന് സാക്ഷിയായത് ലാലും കീരീടം ഉണ്ണിയും ഒക്കെ പഠിച്ച മോഡല്‍ സ്‌കൂളാണ്.ഇവര്‍ പഠിച്ച ക്ലാസ് റൂമിന് മുന്‍പിലാണ് ഈ രംഗം ക്യാമറയിലാക്കിയത്.

തിലകന്‍ ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ചിത്രം മാറ്റി വയ്ക്കുമെന്ന കീരീടം ഉണ്ണിയുടെ വാശിക്ക് മുന്‍പില്‍ ഒടുവില്‍ തീരുമാനം മാറ്റി.ക്ലൈമാക്‌സിലെ കത്തി താഴെയിടടാ , മോനെ നിന്റെ അച്ഛനാടാ പറയുന്നേ എന്ന രംഗം എടുത്തത് സുര്യന്‍ അസ്തമിക്കുന്നതിന് തൊട്ട് മുന്‍പായിരുന്നു. വര്‍ണ്ണത്തിന്റെ സെറ്റില്‍ നിന്ന് തിലകനെ വിട്ട് കിട്ടാനുള്ള പാടായിരുന്നു കാരണം.1989 ജൂലൈയിലായിരുന്നു കീരീടം റിലീസ് ചെയ്തത്. മെയിന്‍ സെന്ററുകളില്ലെല്ലാം 150 -ാം ദിനം പിന്നിട്ടതും മലയാളികളുടെ മരിക്കാത്ത ഓര്‍മ്മയായി കീരീടം മാറിയെതുമെല്ലാം ചരിത്രമാണ്.

കൈവരികള്‍ തകര്‍ന്ന് അപകടമുനമ്പില്‍; കിരീടം പാലം ഇന്നു കണ്ണീര്‍പ്പാലം

കണ്ണീര്‍പൂവിന്റെ കവിളില്‍ തലോടി എന്ന ഗാനം ചിത്രീകരിച്ച കിരീടം പാലം ഇന്ന് അപകടത്തിലാണ്. കൈവരികള്‍ ഒടിഞ്ഞു വീണു. വെളിച്ചവും ഇല്ല. മേലാംകോട്, പുഞ്ചക്കരി, വണ്ടിത്തടം, തിരുവല്ലം ഭാഗത്തുള്ളവര്‍ വെള്ളായ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ വന്നുപോകുന്നത് ഈ പാലം വഴിയാണ്. സമാന്തര പാലം അകലെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ആദ്യംകാണുന്ന ഈ പാലം വഴിയാണു ഭക്തരും യാത്രക്കാരും സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത്.

കള്ളിച്ചെല്ലമ്മ സിനിമ മുതല്‍ കിരീടം സിനിമവരെ ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതാണ് പാലം. മെരിലാന്‍ഡ് സ്റ്റുഡിയോയുടെ സമീപവും ചിത്രാഞ്ജലി സ്റ്റുഡിയോയുടെ മൂക്കിനു താഴെയുമുള്ള വെള്ളായണി കായലിനെയും പരിസരത്തെയും നിരവധി സിനിമാ, സീരിയലിന് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ സൈഡ് ഭിത്തികള്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ ഇല്ലാതായി അപകടാവസ്ഥയിലാണ് ഈ പാലം.
