Travancore Rajahs was not interested in joining Indian union. they wanted to preserve wealth and the Rajah title and they do till this day. Kochi Rajah left the Raja title and he was a well wisher of united Kerala(But, we cannot expect any monarch to be any good). while united Kerala was put forward with support from British Malabar and Kochi, the greedy Travancore Rajahs put forward a couple of conditions that include capital at Trivandrum instead of Kochi and wanted full control of their properties instead of formally donate to the new state. Kochi Rajahs were what can be called some what "benevolent". the Rajah made sacrifices to see the Shoranur-Ernakulam railway line realize, selling the temple properties including golden Nettipattoms(around 108 or so). still not at all a rosy picture of Kerala, generally. while Tipu Sultan is genuinely beastealized, this Hindu Rajahs aren't any better. during Rajahs rule of Travancore,Kochi, it is only Namboodiri, Embrans(tulu brahmin), Pattars followed by Nairs enjoyed the benefits. rest are treated like dirt. it is the crude,rude truth. whatever welfare these Rajahs did nearing India's freedom was because of renaissance happening in Kerala society due to various leaders like Kelappaji, VT Bhattathirippad and others. Communism in a way, made Kerala evolved as a better society. travel to many northern states or even in south, you can very well educated FC people who naturally see SC/ST's as Aboriginals or subhumans, religious bias etc. while, Kerala made a huge leap due to the success of communism. Hindu rule or Christian or Muslim rule never benefit society. Democracy and secularism is the true forces that can keep nations like India evolve into great power and better society. not Hindutva fascists and fanatics getting elected as nation's representatives. it is a regression, that the majority are choosing fanaticism.

No one is perfect.When India got independence after 1947 almost all rulers of 600 princely states prefer their own kingdom over Indian Union.But due to Saradar Vallbahi Patel we got one India.He created India by uniting all these 600 states.So what?
And Patel dont need to send his army in to Kerala like he did in Hyderabad case.All of our Kerala rulers accept him gradually.
I am not a supporter of Travancore Royal Family.But I cant question their commitement.Any Keralites with a good common sense cant question them.Perfect example is that wealth in Temples vault.
Even If these wealth is found out during EMS government in 1950's or 60's they will already find their way to Swiss bank or any another cash printing method.When it comes to looting there is no Congress or Communists all are in one side.Travancore Family was powerful during that days because peoples in Trivandrum love them .So they could protect these assets .But now they are weak and they cant guarantee its protection any more So SC steps in .
Efforts that coming from some quarters against Royal Family is indeed disgusting.
And it was SreeChitraTirunal BalramaVarma proclaimed Temple Proclamation Entry .How's that?
Your usual talking of Secularism and democracy is far from the truth.Casteism can be seen in Kerala society in another way.
SNDP,NSS ,Christain sabhaa;s and Muslim league claimed for cabinet seats in Kerala Govt. Recently Kerala saw their performance for maximum seats in Cabinet .What about that?
Muslim league grabs 5 Cabinet positions due to their votebank and pressurising an elected govt .So much for Secularism

You are boasting about Secularism and that is because of Hindus .Their general tolerance ensures good secularism in India.While Congress are in frontline for giving extraprivileges for Muslims and other minorities ,Poor Hindus still suffer due to same negligence from our so called 'sickular 'parties .They are dividing India for votebank politics .When someone claims for same privileges for Hindus it will become communal What the hell is that?
If Secularism dont ensure protection and social status of the sole protector of same 'Secularism' that is Hindus.We dont need such a Secularism.
Now tell me can you name any other country that give these much privileges for minorities ? Can you name other country witha Secularism like this?
I am not against that .But Govt must also consider the plight of poor Hindus (most poverty stricken community in India)

Ask any so called 'lower caste' person in Kerala what their ancestors had to go through. Actually Kerala was one of the worst places in terms of caste-ism in India.

And agree about the line of these kings.
