Should see the reaction of Suhra in TV.. She blasted all those Muslim community leaders

since Islam cannot be modernized or their scripts or hadees cannot be corrected, I don't think Islam or Muslims will ever change these rules including women confined to homes covered all around or J!had against Non-Muslim world. only Secularism and Western Liberal values ingrained to younger generation may help.


Don't you think education will help in imbibing these values to the community though?

Well, in all honesty, it makes no difference as I see it. It puts in ink what a lot of muslims did behind closed doors. To be fair, there are other communities struck by poverty who tend to marry their daughters off before they are 16.

In the BBC News report titled 'gulf syndrome' Muslim women in kerala especially Malabar tends to suffer from depression that stems from their perceived worthlessness in their life. That is what education and employment gives you, a sense of self-worth and self-esteem. A woman without self-esteem is just easy prey to vicitmisation. this is true across the board for any woman from any community in India and pretty much all the nations.

I am not bashing any community here. I genuinely believe that the most single biggest factor in poverty reduction is female empowerment. Neither am I adopting the paternalisitc view of Women are fragile so they need our help. but what Indian and a lot of other societies do is place harsh, unnecessary obstacles in front of them

They said they wont intervene in this matter.. Anyway hope is on Judicial system..

Muslim women organisation said, the decision should be up to the girls..

So what good does it bring by marrying some girls at the age of 16 ??

imo ,they should increase it to 21 same as that of boys .

I heard some 10 Muslim org including Muslim league decided to approach the court..the org name is " Muslim wyakthi niyama samrakshna samiti". league leaders attended the conferences but they claim they were not there as Muslim league representatives.student wing of Muslim league(msf) is against the move.. m.k muneer also said there is no need to decrease the minimum marriage age..

IMO,the minimum age to be married for both Men and Women must be 18,irrespective of community or religion.

Generally muslims in kerala do marry their girls prematurely like when their age is 16-17, and if there is nothing else wrong in that marriage,like the girl is willing,the families are normal,the guy is normal, no one gives a sh1t about the girl's age.

Muslims in Malabar and coastal Thrissur area marry off their daughters like 14-16 years age. while the muslims of Ernakulam and south may not be following so.
