LONDON - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan wants better relations with India but no compromise would be made on dignity and sovereignty.

Speaking at a reception held for him at Pakistan High Commission in London on Wednesday, he said that Pakistan’s armed forces will root out the menace of terrorism from the country and will not leave operation Zarb-e-Azb incomplete. He said that Pakistan wishes to have improved ties with India including all other neighbouring countries but no compromise will be made on dignity and sovereignty.

Army chief stated that more than 10,000 intelligence operations were conducted in Pakistan in which terrorists and their accomplices were targeted. General Sharif said Pakistan has also made all out efforts to build and maintain friendly ties with its another neighbour Afghanistan. On the law and order situation, General Sharif pointed out that some time back there prevailed a sense of hopelessness across the country but “we restored peace in all parts of the country including Karachi”.

The army chief said there is a marked decline in the number of terrorist acts in the country, as earlier, around 250 such incidents occurred every month. He said, “we have played a significant role towards restoring stability in the country.”

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Lord Nazir, MP Khalid Mehmood, Labour Party MP Gerald Kaufman and many other parliamentarians attended the reception given in the honour of the army chief.

Now thats a BIG step forward by COAS! Yesterday he said we are ready to share CPEC with Afghanistan!!!!!

.
Its not just Pakistan, all the South Asian states are apprehensive of Indian hegemonic designs. Indians have managed to delude them selves into believing that they can control South Asia as a result all the South Asian states are warming up-to China to counter balance India.

except

Bangladesh and Afghanistan both who are allying with India.

so the picture currently is as follows:

Afghanistan,Bangladesh, Myanmar & India

Pakistan,Srilanka,Nepal and China.

Nawaz Sharif's speech in UN General Assembly was a comprehensive one. He highlighted almost all points which are related to Pakistan and region.

Terrorism
ZarbeAzb
Palestine
Kashmir
Indian Agression
CPEC
UNSC extension.

All points are raised but one point was missed. He did not said that we want peace with India, but on equality basis. COAS highlighted that neglected point today in his speech.

We have not suggest any measure that hurts dignity or sovereignty of Pakistan. Anyway this is a positive statement from Hawkish general who always talk of war.

This is NS's strategy at works. You should learn from his diplomatic skills. He cornered India yesterday with a peace proposal in front of the world. Now to top it off (like icing on a cake), the Army Chief gave a similar statement above. The world now goes, wait, the Pakistanis actually want peace so there is something wrong with the situation here.

The ball is inside the Indian court now and the entire world is looking at it closely. The POTUS yesterday made a statement that the Kashmir issue requires resolution from BOTH parties, i.e. India and Pakistan. This means the notion of "Kashmir is our" by India, has been thrown out of the window as everyone now sees it as a clear disputed territory.

Great work and diplomacy!!! :tup::tup:

You realize this all was started by your PM in Bangladesh, FM later and then Gen. Singh threatening Pakistan. India was ready to go into a small war with Pakistan but the Big Daddy stopped it. To Indian "think tanks" or "Tanked Thinks", the idea was to put Pakistan behind 10-20 years and damage the CPEC.

Pakistan announcing its full spectrum, 0 tolerance for conventional war stopped it. Big Daddy immediately jumped in and gave a shut up call as they know Pakistan would use all options to defend herself and that the future of 1.5 billion people was about to go to hell.

Now everyone calmed down as Kerry told both parties that in the UN debate, no accusations of terrorism, blames and war mongering needs to happen. Resulting in very mature debate from both sides and no mentioning of terrorism as each sides are now involved with it inside the other. So you can't cry Pakistan did it when they have been crying India's been doing it with proofs given to the UN. Now Kashmir has surfaced as a Disputed Territory and POTUS yesterday flat out said, the Indians and the Pakistanis needed to sit down and resolve this. Meaning Kashmir doesn't belong to "one" party. It a disputed issue and needs to be resolved!!!

Results can be seen in NS's statement, followed by RS's statement. VERY good word on both's end. This should ALSO give a lesson to the Pakistanis who think the Military is running the country. Its not, its NS's direction and diplomacy and the Army now gets it and is playing along. No Pakistani Army Chief, while situation is so tense on the borders, makes these kind of statements. There is a reason for it and its by the civilian diplomacy!!!

How is good ties with India a compromise on Pakistan sovereignty?

except

Pakistan,Srilanka,Nepal and China.

This happens always when there is a large country surrounded by smaller neighbors. In east Asia most of the Chinese neighbors feel the same. However, in case of south Asia, only Pakistan feel uneasy with India

What the hell? He gave peace process 4 steps. What was that for? To sell Candy to India? Do you ever find yourself in a positive situation or you are just too negative in life? RS's statement is what he was told to say after NS delivered his message as that has all the globe talking maturity from Pakistan's end. And the ball is now in India's court.

This should ALSO give a lesson to the Pakistanis who think the Military is running the country. They are not, its NS's direction and diplomacy. He wants peace with India and Army has bought into his idea and understand he economic benefits. There is a reason for RS's statement and its by the civilian diplomacy!!!

Stop showing and over glorifying your generals. They are great people but they aren't diplomats. They are the generals. Now in RS's case, he's bought into NS

You guys have developed a very strong habit of lying. It is pakistan and all its political, military elite and intelligentsia are issuing nuclear war threat every alternate day. You do not see anything wrong with that but you are trying to discover the threat from very legitimate and correct statement of Indians. i think that you guys think that issuing warning and threats is your exclusive right.

And yes, we accept and appreciate that Nawaz is a very mature politician and his willingness to improve the relationship with India is admirable and we appreciate that without any qualification.

Those are empty words that are coming from both NS and RS. Until Hafeez Saeed and Lakvi are hanged, I will not believe that Pakistan matches its words with actions.

As on Kashmir, it is an integral part of India and non negotiable. US or anyone cannot make India change its stance.
