What's new

Kazakhstan switches to the Latin alphabet.

Two mullahs speak, judge and make conclusion with their own small world of ignorance, but no any science, history or even al least the characteristics of Turk language.

That is not welcome in knowldege based places like this section, so feel free to play it in mullah section isolated from the rest of the world.

P.S: No intention and time to go into ''inform first, debate later'' kind of monologue.

The Koreans, Japanese, Chinese and Russians have proved you can develop through your own script.

Russians don't have their own script though... Cyrillic alphabet they use was developed in the First Bulgarian Kingdom in the 9th century and is a mix between Greek and Glagolitic scripts. It was later spread around the Balkans and Eastern Europe by Bulgarian scholars and clerics.

And what's wrong with the Latin alphabet after all? That it's used mostly in Western Europe or what?

I am more than happy that the Kazakh leaders have chosen to start using a Latin script instead of the Cyrillic one that they were forced to use by the Soviet/Russian colonists of their lands. That's just an another step towards their de-Russification and turning towards their Turkic brothers and sisters. Most Turkic nations are already using the Latin script anyway so this step will help to deepen the inter-state and inter-ethnic cultural exchange between all brotherly Turkic nations.

Yes. In this particular context, Cyrillic is not their script and was, I believe, forced on them by the Soviets. I was addressing the general view that Latin script is essential for development.

When you change your scripts it means new generation are not able any more to fathom and grasp previous generation's book, poems and writing or even historical books which would end up in loosing identity. who says development could only reached through Latin alphabet? it's absurd ,,,

First of all, the Cyrillic script was forced on them. Take also into account, that neither the phonetic/pronunciation nor the meaning of the vocabulary is going to change. The grammar rules won't change either. It's the same language, the same stories, the same legends with just another script.

I really understand your concerns but you cannot compare Iran/China/Russia/Arabia/Japan with Kazakhstan in this particular case.

Edit:

(North and South) Azeri, Turkmen, Kazakh, Tatar, Uigur, Uzbek alphabets are including the letter Ää (=Əə=Эə). Only we Turks don't use it. Why? Because they forget to add it to our script.

emek/ämäk; esas/äsas; sämär/semer

elma but äsas; Erzincan but ämäk etc.

In Kazakhstan, the first “Public Dictation” in Latin was held, in which about 2 million inhabitants of our country took part.

The republican action was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of the Action Plan for the translation of the Kazakh language into the Latin script, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is the press service of the Ministry.

Kazakhstan is doing this part of the De-Russification policy.

By this logic look what west archieved with latin alphabet. :disagree:
Flawed logic. The point is that countries too can achieve things with their own scripts. You tend to miss that point.
