Kayani: "Next time we'll bring it down"

That's right. Kiyani originally refused to bow but then Civilian govt. and some unknown reasons pressurized him to allow the so called training facility (base) in Tarbela, where the report said U.S. brought such monster size containers that can only accomodate tanks, large weaponry and other equipment that cannot be justified to use as training the F.C. for anti-insurgency tactics.

Irony is, F.C. doesn't even need anti-insurgency tactics. They are all born guerrila fighters. Those mountains are their dwelling and fighting is in their blood. So this training F.C. was simply a wrapper for the same candy given to the world on the name of WoT.

And as far I have analyzed the news sorrounding the drone attacks, and then heard from some reliable sources about the deal ending in Dec 2008, I am pretty much convinced that it was a deal and apparently its not being re-signed. So hope it wont be re-signed to see the wolves kept on the bay in 2009, else it's really destroying our dignity as a key player in the region.
Yaar c'mon, these sort of deals are not signed... Its a tacit agreement. The ACM has said the only reason those UAVs are flying is because the government hasn't given an order to take them down.

We took out many other UAVs in the past. Remember when we took out an Israeli UAV known to have flown from Indian soil? Even Taliban took down a few predators if I recall correctly.

So I would require some further explanation as to what kind of agreement it was and how is it binding upon us? If there even was any agreement.

Iam glad he said that and we will and we shall bring down any aircraft by India in our airspace just like we have before we shall do it again there is no more to talk about period!!

Well, it was sort of a figure of speech when I said, signed an agreement, not really was saying if a paper was inked or not. However, what I have been told that an agreement was made with the then establishment to carry on the attacks and the govt. will keep on protesting it (it was also disclosed by I guess Washington Post, if not NY Times).

And I deffinately remember how the Israeli UAV (flown by Indian) was brought down along with a Mig back then, so the question wasn't really whether we can, or we can't, the question was, whether we are "allowed" or we are not, and thats where the talk of agreement kicks in.

Because if you see, the ground is controlled by ISI, they provide all the (target) information to U.S. upon which U.S. action (with these drones), tho not entirely, as U.S. also have created her assets on the ground and is getting some information as well to act upon.

But anywhichway, if we are to combine the empty protest of govt. against attacks, then General saab's strong statement that sovreignty will be maintained at all costs (even after couple of hours of that statement, the attack took place taking a few more innocent lives) and then Air Marshal stating "if govt. will order" we can take care of it (where I believe the defending borders has nothing to do with govt. approved orders to defend the borders you know, rather it is an understood/given duty of the Military to defend the borders and not wait for the Govt. to pass an order to defend the border - doesn't make sense you know), and still nothing happened, and then we heard statements coming from Zardari/Gilani et al. about "there will be no more attacks from Jan", etc., all leads us to the outcome, that these (protests/statements) were all delay tactics, meaning there was/is an agreement with U.S. for these drone attacks, which will halt if not re-signed/agreed upon, in Jan.

I am just trying to piece things together. If you have a better twist to it, please do not hesitate to put forth.

Dignity is worth the price.

I agree with you to a certain extent K_B, is it worth the suffering of our people of whom some already have a hard time in everyday life.
Wouldn't it be better if we pursued a different policy that would both please the people of Pakistan aswell as the international community?

International community is polarized behind all the smiles and bull shi**ing. We should utilize this and polarize the world, our camp versus theirs. Sh** mate war is being brought to our soil it's time to stop playing mr. nice guy, our people are suffering as it is, we must work to minimize this. Look at how the Israeli's react to a few mortars.

I wouldn't trust Zardari, his weakness is greed...these days Gilani and Zardari are not getting along for some reason...Gilani is more trustworthy than Zardari, but Zardari has more power.

It's time we tested another nuke, let the diplomacy fall into place after that.

The last time we tested another nuke was at the end of Musharaf's era, a nuclear missle capable of hitting any place in India.

Zardari wont test another nuke...he's spending all the country's money on his son in London, whose spending money on gorias.
