Kashmiri Pandits: The Longest Night

This is one of those undocumented and largely un-lamented tragedies. The Kashmiri Pundits had their lands and property expropriated, their livelihoods snatched and their lives uprooted. For those who think that this was some from of appropriate retaliation in lieu of the Pundit's support for the "Indian establishment", bare in mind that if support is criteria for being designated as a legitimate target then most of the moral stands being taken by said posters elsewhere are hollow and defunct.

There never was a moral stand by those who threw Pandits out ( we never did, but then Mattan has been an exception largely). They were open and honest. It was the call to cleanse the Valley.

Only apologists or armchair fanatics who played no part in this mess try to take a moral stand on this issue. The KMs don't shed tears for us. They never did, never will, save for exceptions.

Important point is that the exodus of the population did not happen because of a number of terror attacks. It happened because the Muslim neighbors started calling for blood of their non Muslim 'friends'. You can check the DD Kashir footage. There are plenty of example of apartheid that we faced then and continue to face today. But let's leave it.

I try to avoid threads like this. I don't have any positive expectation from the Government of India in this regard. We just don't count.

Operation Lentil ,a form of collective punishment for guilty tribes and ethnics. Deportation without food and water on a cattle train to Central asia.

Should this method be applied to Kashmir valley also?

NO! They are our citizens, any state that must perpetrate forced deportations on its citizens loses its de jure right to call them its citizens. What we must do is resettle the Kashmiri Pundits, not just provide them with the resources required to re-establish themselves but create an atmosphere within which they may live with dignity.

For this we may have to take certain steps such as starting off with separate townships for the KPs in the initial phases but the long term plan must be to normalize the social and communal fabric of the valley lest we want our brothers to live under constant threat.

Which is why this time we are building separate townships and cities for the Pandits in Kashmir. They will be provided security and armed as well.
The Pandits owe a debt...finally GoI is helping them pay it back.

Nope. They suffered because of Islamists.
Those Islamists and their supporters have paid a price since the Army moved in. Now the Pandits will give back their due themselves.

LOL. Even if we ignore the moral issues involved, we must not forget that we are NOT Russians. When it comes to not giving a f, they take the cake. We are different and let's just accept it. Good thing is Kashmiris are very very docile. Without external stimulus (and strong one), they don't take any initiative, let alone violent ones. A 're-education' is necessary though, something that completely does away with religion in the Valley.

The Army moved in in 48, but there was no problem till late 80's.

they can keep hating the pandits it wont matter, this time pandits will be armed and protected and willing to shoot back.

there was no problem as they tried being fooled again and again by indian potitians that they will given right of self determination .. all the resistance was lead to mass graves ... when kashmir got frustrated with indian lies they started resisting

They do have the right to self determination under the aegis of Indian constitution. They have their own state and their elected Chief Minister with local governance as provided to all states in India.

Anything more can not be accommodated. In any case, our long term solution to this problem is in demographic engineering.

Pandits are sufffering bcoz of the indian army invasion .. as the majority wants freedom from india and pandits support inidan army who is killing kashmiris that is why the kashmirs muslims have no love for them ... more kashmir muslims have been killed by indian army then the pundits by saperatis ... u cant invade their land then ask them to give u flowers .. just like israel is doing

indian rules dnt work in disputed territory ... they papers and so called laws for making a population has no legal or moral athurity .. they are with u just bcoz u took them by force ... 86 % of muslims from all over the subcontinent voited for pakistan , muslim dont want to live with u guys ..

And that is acceptable to us. They are free to leave. We are not stopping them. No land will be given however.
