i wonder other than the times independent Ladakh was strong, whether any Indian kingdom ever extended past the gradient of the Karakoeam range...even now India struggles to go beyond the Karakoram line...at least taking Siachen in 1984, gave some breathing room for the Depsang plains

I don't know but there were Indianized or semi-Indianized Kingdoms beyond that point. Tibet was itself quite Indianized held by "Sakya Pandita" and even the Southern Tajikistan was ruled by some "Narayana" when Arabs invaded.

One thing is clear that his conquests are exaggerated by Kalhana for Kashmiri pride. Regarding the conflict between Lalitaditya and Yashovarman, historians in the Wikipedia page seem to theorize that Lalitaditya actually defeated Yashovarman of Kannauj. But it's highly unlikely that he went beyond that region to the South or East. One thing that we should keep in mind is that Kalhana is not a contemporary of Lalitaditya and thus he might have some knowledge about which king ruled which region and could have further based on that information attributed imagined victories to Lalitaditya.

Kalhana and much later jonorajas chronicles were in certain instances wildly exagerated to curry favour with the royal courts and put them in good light. there is no doubt laladitya muktipida had a vast Kashmiri empire but not to the extent that is suggested.

I get to know about the obscure native Kashmiri Karkota dynasty who according to the prolific Kashmiri historian-writer Kalhana, ruled vast parts of Indian subcontinent stretching the empire from modern Afghanistan to Bangladesh though many historians dispute the claims about the extent of the territory, the indisputable regions (from Pir Panjal to Kannauj) are still quite impressive given Kashmir always lacked the manpower and resources.

The map is a lovely shitpost but he probably didn't administer over that much land. However, he did launch military expeditions that went pretty far (think of it as similar to how Mahmud Ghaznavi launched military expeditions far beyond what he actually ruled).
