Bro as far as i can recall the MC was in power for a long period but only when the PPP/sultan Mahmood came to power did any real development take place,roads and electric being just two examples.
What has the Pak government backed prime minster/president bought us other then more corruption in public office.

We have set a world record in recovery, there are reports from UN, HRCP and so many other indipendent organisations which have decleared this fast recovery a "miricle".

NO...not a chance.But the military would have been called in anyway under a civilian government.
I think also the work carried out by the freedom fighter and the population of pakistan is what really made the difference.Also the cubans/turks/chinese/british /americans and all the other nations that helped us should be applauded.....humanity at its best

Mufti seeks early resolution of Kashmir dispute

NEW DELHI: Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohamamad Sayeed has demanded an immediate reconciliation process to help the early resolution of the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mufti, patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), an alliance partner in the Congress-led government also demanded a safe-passage for youth who had gone across for arms training and are willing to return Kashmir Valley.

He said a reconciliation process could start with instant reduction of troops, revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), vacation of civil and institutional properties by the security forces, rehabilitation of the victims of violence, safe passage for the boys who had gone across for arms training and allowing free cross-LoC movement of people and goods in all the regions of the State.

Mufti emphasized that the region’s stability was linked to the political and economic stability in Jammu and Kashmir. “Fortunately, there is growing recognition within the region that pursuing the same old Kashmir policies is doing more harm than good,” he said.

He said while the former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had led the initiative to move off the beaten path in search of a settlement, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has continued the policy to build a new and peaceful Kashmir. “Even the Pakistani President Parvez Musharraf has repeatedly expressed his interest in new thinking and his readiness to be flexible regarding a resolution of the Kashmir issue. He asked Congress leadership to play its role and take decisive initiative to open up a new window of opportunity. iftikhar gilani

Srinagar, April 19 (Online): In occupied Kashmir, the President of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabbir Ahmad Shah has said that the Government of India is not serious in resolving the Kashmir dispute. ? He was addressing different gatherings at Litter in Pulwama district. He said that bilateralism had failed in resolving the Kashmir dispute, which, he said, could be solved only when three parties would sit on a table and discuss the same for resolution. ? The DFP President said that India?s traditional intransigence had always been an obstacle to resolve the Kashmir dispute. He underlined the need to view the Kashmir dispute in its historical perspective, saying, ?once the same is done, the state terrorism could have been avoided.? Emphasising to resolve the dispute through peaceful means, Shah said, ?India lives in a fool's paradise if it believes that Kashmiris will yield through arrests, torture, and even killings.?

we must try to address the root cause, i mean let the people to decide how they want to live instead of counting the guns the so called militants have or number of weapons providers. let the kashmiries to think that it is now useless to use guns against the indians. Give them their right which is their first right.

Pro-Pakistan slogans at rally to welcome Geelani

Srinagar, April 22 (IANS) Hardliner Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani Sunday returned to Srinagar after a surgery to a warm welcome by thousands of his supporters who shouted pro-Pakistan slogans with one of them waving a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) flag.

Geelani, who underwent a kidney surgery in Mumbai last month, was received by large crowds, a majority of them youth, and was brought to the martyr's graveyard in the sprawling Idd Gah grounds in a long caravan of vehicles.

As the firebrand Hurriyat leader appeared on the podium, crowds greeted him with cheers and shouted pro-Islam, pro-Pakistan and pro-LeT slogans.

A masked youth hoisted a flag of the terror organisation LeT near the podium as Geelani made a robust speech rejecting Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's four-point formula on Kashmir.

Police promptly registered a case for displaying the LeT flag. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) S.M. Sahai later told reporters that another case was also registered in the Safakadal police station for raising anti-national slogans at the rally.

Geelani told the huge gathering: 'The ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan will not lead to anywhere unless people of Kashmir were involved in the process and the solution has to be acceptable to Kashmiris.

'The two countries say they have reached an agreement on Kashmir and if they thrust any solution on the people here it will have great repercussions.'

The crowds comprising of youth responded with pro-LeT and pro-Hizbul Mujaheedin slogans.

'Demilitarisation has to be simultaneous from the entire state and peace in the valley will return only once the Indian troops leave Kashmir,' Geelani told the gathering at the martyr's graveyard.

Geelani's supporters had started gathering at the Idd Gah grounds right from early morning. Security forces, however, were not deployed by authorities around the venue as is the practice.
