Kashmiris protest killing of schoolteacher
HELD SRINAGAR: Thousands of villagers set government vehicles on fire in noisy demonstrations over the killing of a schoolteacher by Indian troops, officials said on Saturday.

Residents accused the Indian troops of killing Abdul Rashid Mir in cold blood during frisking of civilians near a forest on Friday. An army statement, however, insisted Mir was killed accidentally after refusing to cooperate with a security check.

Police and residents said thousands of villagers have been holding noisy demonstrations against the army on Friday and Saturday. “They have kept the body on a stretcher and refuse to bury the dead until a murder case is registered against the accused,” a police officer said, adding more and more villagers were joining in the protests.

He said the angry villagers set fire to two government vehicles and forced a shutdown in one area, adding police used batons and tear gas to attempt to disperse the crowd on Saturday but that failed.

There cannot be unilateral implementation of the UN resolutions. Considering the lack of trust between the two sides - the Siachen issue, and the Kargil episode, there will be need for the two sides to first come to a full agreement on what needs to be done, possibly with international guarantors to the "deal".

At the moment, with India's oficial position remaining that "Kashmir is an Integral part of India", there is no reason for Pakistan to believe that Indian will not occupy the territory it vacates, and then refuse to implement the plebiscite (remainder of the UN resolutions) to determine final status.

India will have to officially drop the "integral part", because that indicates a predetermined view of the status of Kashmir, not one contingent to the wishes of the kashmiris. Implementation of the UN resolution can only occur once India decides that it too will adhere to them.

"Taali aik haath say nahin bajti"

The UN resolution should have been implemented then; and right now, the situation is so hopelessly complicated that it is just a scoring point to talk about the UN resolution.

Therefore, if someone wants to use the UN resolution as the base for justification, then so be it, but the resolution must be seen in its entirety and not in selected phrases to score brownies is what I feel.

I have read some of the posts unfortunately cannot go through all and have two questions. Any one can answer them but answers should have sense rather than pure patriotism generally noted on this thread.
First question is, as I understand India has around 700,000 troops in Indian Occupied Kashmir since around 1989 when the latest round of uprising began. They have not been able to put it down. What are they doing there other than raping and burning down houses?
India accuses Pakistan of supporting the movement. In fact whatever happens in India is blamed on ISI. Why haven’t they been able to stop ISI? Are their own intelligence agencies run by incompetent people or they are busy somewhere else?

LOL ISI is the best and ya what do u think that the RAW is just sitting there and having coffee :P

Well I have heated this story of Indian army raping the Kashmiri number of times. Can you guys who keep posting this list the number of rapes done by army in 2009 and back it with proof. I am expecting at least 1000 rape incidence the way you guys say we are busy rapeing.

Well the UN Resolution included withdrawal of Pakistani forces from the entire (former princely) state of Jammu and Kashmir.

By unilaterally ceding Aksai Chin to China, the idea of deferring to UN Resolutions becomes a moot point.

Indian nation is lair nation. You know how?

Becuase the leaders and the rulers are infact the representatives of the nation in modern times. They act on behalf of their nation, they say on behalf of their nation and their every single job/duty is and only for the nation. If they promise, the promise will be consider as the promise given by the whole nation and if that promise will be broken, the nation will held responsible for it.

Fantastic piece of observation! We Indians used a similar logic in order to come to the conclusion that the Pakistani nation is a terrorist nation.

Stop making such childish comments.

Aksai Chin not only complicated the Kashmir issue but also created an issue between India and China. Pakistan to win Chinese support made a strategic error (from winning Kashmir perspective).

Now the highway being built through *** & Aksai Chin is going to create further problems....
