Featured Kashmir not on agenda of OIC foreign ministers’ meeting

One of the largest diplomatic meetings of Muslim countries will not include a discussion on the Kashmiri dispute.
In another setback for the long-suffering people of India-administered Kashmir, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting of foreign ministers has refused to have time set aside to discuss their plight.

A statement released by the OIC made no mention of Kashmir and there will be no special session to discuss India’s draconian military measures that have resulted in a lockdown of the region lasting over a year.

The OIC host, Niger, turned down a request by Pakistan to discuss the Kashmiri issue. This follows a decision earlier this year in which Saudi Arabia also refused Pakistan’s request to have Kashmir on the agenda of foreign ministers.

OIC Secretary General Secretary General Dr Yousef Al Othaimeen was quoted as saying that the meeting would discuss a “list of topics and issues of concern to the Muslim world.”

The 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in the capital of Niger, Niamey, on 27 and 28 November 2020.

On the agenda will be the Palestinian cause, the fight against violence, extremism and terrorism, Islamophobia, the plight of Muslim minorities and communities in non-member states and fundraising for the Rohingya case at the International Court of Justice.

India and Pakistan control parts of Kashmir and the region is hotly contested by the two sides leading to two full-blown wars in 1947 and 1965, and the Kargil War of 1999.

In August of 2019, India’s Hindu nationalist Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, stripped the region of its long-held autonomous status. For many in the Muslim-majority region, the move sparked fears that New Delhi was attempting to change the demographics by encouraging Hindu migration.

Since then there has been a swift crackdown on any forms of dissent in the Indian state and the more than 12 million people have seen their access to the outside world regularly cut off.

Increasingly the OIC has struggled to remain relevant as a body that represents issues that Muslims around the world face.

Most recently the body of 57 Muslim countries made no official comment following the controversial decision by the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan to normalise ties with Israel and how those decisions may impact the Palestinian cause.

Saudi Arabia is widely believed to exercise undue influence over the body headquartered in the Kingdom and the ruthless young Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has also sought closer ties with Israel.

if i became PM of pakistan first day i will do 5 things

terminate UNHCR membership
terminate ICSID membership

Its our policy whether you or those good for nothing Arab world likes it or not. Yes in real, its futile exercise for decades but it has symbolic value for us. It depicts who are with us whose not. In the last few years we have inclined more towards China and in Muslim world, we see Turkey as our major ally now then any Arab nation.

you worded this very precisely and accurately but not fully comprehensively. Add 'for now' at the end.
My point being your 'policy' has nothing to do with actual Kashmir or even the muslim religion but just a ruse that has to be kept in the Pak public view, while jumping from wagon to wagon that'd provide $. Ofcourse your culture is your prerogative but after 75 years, one would expect some realization that there are better ways to sustain a nation than that.

Can we just annex Saudi Arabia already. They have an incompetent military. We can even tactical nuke them as we please, they are really in no position to retaliate. We can use Iranian help too.

Brilliant Plan!! yes go ahead.....You are the one Military strategist and think tank....but you haven't factored that your ex chief is leading the forces there...this will further make it easy. And tactical nukes you said? ...you don't need them..Saudi is full of oil.. so even a bullet fired from your side will work as a Bomb. Saudi will surrender in a day. All the best.

Pakistan is an economically, and politically (due to its own state's policies, rendered subservient to outside religious influences), weak state. It's extremely easy to get people out on the street for either KSA or Iran, whichever throws more money into it.

Imagine seeing such a gather in favor of Pak, in either Iran or KSA. It will not happen. The country is seen for the most part, lambs for slaughter or hands for hire. Why would then any Arab country take Pakistan's protest seriously? It holds no realistic value in today's world.

Pakistanis continue to fail to realize how the world has changed around them, and still expect everyone to behave the same way as they did during cold-war days. The entire world has since moved on, countries have made progress beyond our imagination in economics, they hold that power in hand and have no need for a lethargic nation that is mostly dependent upon its friends.

The irony is Indians are jumping on the news as if this is a diplomatic win of India. It has nothing to do with India, every country looks after their interests , if Pakistan had send troops to Yemen OIC would have included Kashmir. But than Indians would have said what difference does it make even if Kashmir becomes part of OIC agenda. It has been in the agenda for years, hasn't made difference.

Pakistan is in for the long game, Indians can celebrate as much as they want. We ll see who ll have the last laugh. Still waiting for India to take over Azadi Kashmir and GB. Rather than taking over Pakistani Kashmir India should focus on preserving its own territory which Chinese have engulfed without firing a single bullet.

India is set to lose more territory in the coming years, yet they ll celebrate if they have won something like they did on 27th Feb 2019.

ISLAMABAD: The Kashmir dispute has not been included in the agenda of the two-day meeting of foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being held in Niger’s capital Niamey from Friday.
The OIC statements, both in English and Arabic, made no specific mention of Kashmir in the agenda announced in Riyadh.
OIC Secretary General Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen was quoted in the official statement as having said that the meeting would discuss the Palestinian cause, the fight against violence, extremism and terrorism, Islamophobia and defamation of religion, the situation of Muslim minorities and communities in non-member states, fundraising for the Rohingya case at the International Court of Justice, as well as the promotion of dialogue among civilisations, cultures and religions, and other emerging matters.
The agenda of the Niamey meeting also includes discussion on the political, humanitarian, economic, social and cultural and other issues related to science and technology, the media and the progress made in the implementation of the “OIC-2025: Plan of Action” document. It would, moreover, feature a brainstorming session on “Security and Humanitarian Challenges Confronting African Sahel States Members of the OIC”.

Pakistan has since the annexation of occupied Kashmir by India been demanding a special meeting of the OIC foreign ministers on the dispute. The meeting has not been convened so far because the Saudis, who wield a virtual veto in the 57-member bloc of Muslim countries, has not supported Islamabad’s move.
The latest omission of Kashmir from the agenda of the regular foreign ministers’ meeting comes at a time when ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia/UAE remain strained over what Pakistani diplomats say are “unfulfilled expectations”.
A diplomatic source separately said that this time OIC Contact Group on Kashmir would not meet either. The hosts declined a Pakistani request for a meeting on the pretext of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi left Islamabad on Wednesday for participating in the OIC meeting.
The Foreign Office said Mr Qureshi would highlight the aggravating human rights situation in occupied Kashmir after last year’s annexation and introduction of measures to change the demographic structure of the Muslim-majority and disputed region.
Iftikhar A. Khan adds: The foreign minister, meanwhile, wrote a letter to the president of the United Nations Security Council and the secretary general, urging the Security Council to exercise its direct responsibility to prevent India from perpetrating its criminal colonial project to change the demographic structure of the disputed territory.
The letter also calls for securing the implementation of the UN resolutions which recognise Kashmiris’ legitimate right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite under the UN auspices.

Then Pakistan and few others who are like minded should not be going to the one. Why are we belittling ourselves, have some pride in our nationality. It goes to show pathetic and slave mentality of our foreign office and establishment.

@BATMAN

Please entertain us.. what is it this time? "The brave crown Prince of Saudi Arabia wanted to put Kashmir on his top agenda at the OIC Summit, however the traitor Imran Khan warned him not to, the bold prince stood his ground not faltering, but the mafia king Khan threatened to launch shaheen 3 missile to obliterate Riyadh should he continue to do so. The weeping prince backed down fearing for the defenceless citizens of the capital, who since has not slept as his heart still aches for the Kashmiris being butchered by the Fascist government of Barat."

From India's pov, does not matter much. As for Pakistan, shows diplomatic standing among brotherly states.

FM is unsuccessful in passing any resolution on Kashimir during this OIC summit. Pakistan in parallel needs to exceptionally start working fastly on the new Block before it too late.
India is enjoying its Arab diplomacy in a win-win condition. These Arabs are all lies and deceit; no use to talk with sold Arab nations.
