August 15 | 2013 AFP
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe the Indian Independence Day, August 15 as Black Day marked by complete strike in Indian occupied
Kashmir and protest rallies in the world capitals. Call for the strike has been given by APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani and other pro-liberation leaders to convey the message to India that it had no moral justification to observe its Independence Day in Jammu and Kashmir as it had usurped all fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. On the other hand, the entire occupied territory has been turned into a military garrison ahead of the Indian Independence Day, Kashmir Media Service reported.
Large numbers of Indian troops and police personnel are patrolling roads and streets, causing inconvenience to the people. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt in their statements urged the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, to play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per the Kashmiris' aspirations in line with the relevant UN resolutions.

Dal Khalsa terms August 15 as day of betrayal and deceit - See more at: Dal Khalsa terms August 15 as day of betrayal and deceit - Punjabnewsline.com
By Jagtar Singh-
CHANDIGARH: The Dal Khalsa today termed countrys Independence Day 15 as a day of betrayal and deceit by the Indian leadership with the Sikhs and stressed Indias history of broken promises in Punjab.
Dal Khalsa chief Harchranjit Singh Dhami called upon Sikh people to observe Indias Independence Day on August 15 as black day and stay away from celebrations. As a matter of fact we are not against India or its people but unless the country it fulfills the demands and addresses aspirations of the people of Punjab in general and Sikhs in particular, there is no moral justification to celebrate it as Independence Day, he said.
He said it had been clear to the Sikhs for decades they could not get any justice or progress within the confines of the present Indian political system that was so viciously opposed to our legitimate goals, desires and aspirations. Outstanding issues dating back to partition days remain unresolved to this day despite promises from the Indian leadership to help find a solution.
Dhami said the Sikhs were not alone in this struggle against New Delhis hegemony. Right now, the Kashmiris, Nagas and Assamese were also observing India's Independence Day as a Black Day. He condemned the flagrant violations of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and said violence in Kishtwar was designed to divide the people on communal lines by the vested interests.
He pointed out that the statement by Minister of State for Home RPN Singh in the Lok Sabha regarding the revival of militancy in Punjab attributed to Sikh militant groups was designed to damage the image of the community.
