Kashmir a bilateral issue for India, Pakistan: UK's Labour Party leader

"Any constitutional issues in India are a matter for the Indian Parliament and Kashmir is a bilateral issue for India and Pakistan (Here he said it is bilateral issue) to resolve peacefully" (Here he poked his nose in a bilateral issue by advising how to resolve it.)

If the issue is bilateral then how can he get involved in advising how to resolve it. This mean Kashmir is too lethal to let it be bilateral and international intervention is needed in Kashmir to stop any mishap and human rights violation by India. He proved him self wrong with his own statement .

Did you read the indian statement in UN?

Its just a same lines...

I dont care. If someone advises how to resolve it then that person cannot say it is bilateral cause he him self intervened in it. So issue remains no more bilateral cause 3rd party is advising on it.

Then I would say that you don't understand international politics.

He just saying, don't expect anything from UN.

Who is saying? A person from a party who has not won elections in a decade? When he intervenes by saying resolve it peacefully he slapping on Indian face by not making it bilateral issue.

What is here about being happy. when someone tells you how to do thing he is getting involved in it. The issue becomes no more bilateral. He has intervened. India should remove peaceful from its statement. That is a technical mistake.

.
When a country like Pakistan,on a regular basis, pleads, whines, begs, accuses , insinuates that UK MUST help solve a clearly bilateral issue by IK Quereshi and previous and current Pakistani leaders. It becomes necessary to remind these deluded idiots that it is a bilateral issue NOTHING to do with Britain.
That position is also just as forcefully held by the Conservative party.
So I am afraid the main gamut of British politics has conclusively made its position clear.
Its bilateral and not a concern of the UK government.

But I would love to hear this from Boris who is the actual leader rather than someone who has no say in British policy making cause he sits in opposition.

I wonder where all those Pakistanis who touted the Labour Party as the saviour of everything including Kashmir are. I told them from day one that these lot are not interested, but no the old narrative that the conservatives are evil and labour is angelic reigned.
Now take a long look. Expect similar statements on the Middle East soon I.e. Israel.

TBF Why should they care? The English have no connection or shared commonality with Pakistanis, Kashmiris or indians.

Well isn't Labour better than Conservatives for Muslims? Corbyn is much better than Boris

Kashmir a bilateral issue for India, Pakistan: UK's Labour Party leader
"Any constitutional issues in India are a matter for the Indian Parliament and Kashmir is a bilateral issue for India and Pakistan to resolve peacefully" -- Sir Kier Starmer, new leader of the Labour Party, the main opposition party of Britain, said.

Kashmir is a bilateral issue for India and Pakistan -- Sir Kier Starmer, new leader of the Labour Party, the main opposition party of Britain, said.

On April 30, in a joint statement released by Labour Friends of India and Sir Kier Starmer, the new leader of the Labour Party said,

"We must not allow issues of the sub-continent to divide communities here. Any constitutional issues in India are a matter for the Indian Parliament and Kashmir is a bilateral issue for India and Pakistan to resolve peacefully. Labour is an internationalist Party and stands for the defence of human rights everywhere."

"Britons of Indian-origin contribute so much to the UK and to the Labour Party. I'm committed to working closely with Labour Friends of India to rebuild trust with the community," he said.

This is a major step towards mending the relationship with the Indian diaspora in the UK and a friendly hand towards India.

The Labour party under Jeremy Corbyn on September 25 last year, in its party conference in Brighton, passed a resolution that supports "International intervention in Kashmir and a call for UN-led referendum.'

This had upset not only the Indian diaspora in the UK but also the Government of India. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had then expressed regret and had called it an "uninformed and unfounded position."

Starmer, in the joint statement also said, "A Labour government under my leadership will be determined to build even stronger business links with India and to co-operate on the global stage on issues such as climate change. I look forward to meeting the Indian High Commissioner in due course to open a renewed dialogue between the Labour Party and the people of India."

Welcoming the stance taken by Sir Starmer, Rajesh Agrawal, Co-Chair of Labour Friends of India and Deputy Mayor of London for business, said: "I congratulate Keir Starmer on his election as a leader. I really welcome his commitment to rebuilding strong links between the Labour Party and the Indian community. This has been a great start and Keir has achieved a lot in the short span of a couple of weeks.

Labour Friends of India will work closely with him and will continue to promote UK-India ties as well as continuing to raise any issues from the community to the leadership."

One of the senior lawyers in the UK, Sir Kier Starmer, before getting elected as an MP to the British Parliament in 2015, was head of Crown Prosecution Service.

Starmer was a "remainer" as far as Brexit goes and also supported the call for a second referendum.

Sir Kier Starmer was elected as the leader of the Labour Party in April 2020 amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

I wonder if he said that because news is from India today.

What the party which helped destroy Iraq? No it’s not.
Muslims need to get on with their lives. The conservatives also have Muslims (Pakistanis) and they’ve done well.
British politics is not black and white.
Corbyn has also gone.

"“It is the long-standing position of the UK government that the crisis in Kashmir is fundamentally a matter for India and Pakistan to resolve. And it is not – alas, since we were there at the very beginning – it is not for us as the UK to prescribe a solution in that dispute,” Johnson said."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also made a reference to Britain's colonial history in the region.

London:
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday said in Parliament that the UK's long-standing stance of Kashmir being a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan remains unchanged although the situation in the Valley is of "profound" concern to the country.

Boris Johnson's statement came in the backdrop of the two-day trip of 23 members of European Parliament to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation.

The visiting EU parliamentarians on Wednesday termed the dilution of Article 370 an internal issue of India and said they stand by the country in its fight against terrorism.
