Kashmir - 3 Indian soldiers, 2 Policemen dead in a gunfight with militants.

If you are asking why india would stage manage killing mission? There are multiple reasons.

1) india unilaterally mothballed negotiation and looking for way in. Typical indian way of thinking is corner Pakistan diplomatically and try to score/bargain.
2) india trying to eliminate special status of occupied Kashmir and this stage managed indian killing mission is to distract people from indian plan.
3) stage false importance of india and put a false and factious arguement to Russians and Americans that they should not deal with Pakistan.

Maybe so. The results will show whether that is true. Regardless of who wins, the fact is that they have complete political freedom to vote their own govt, and therefore Kashmir is NOT occupied. They can express their will through the ballot, and not through bullets. The very fact that they can choose their representatives belies your assertion that Kashmiris are occupied. They have more freedom than any Pakistani did for half your history, and more freedom than many Paksitanis have today.

No, they just didnt have a choice.....if the majority didnt vote, the minority would - and that would bring in BJP (POSSIBLY) - which is a possibility the majority would be foolish to allow.

BJP is a divisive, extremist outfit. According to your dear leaders like Ms. "Jyoti" - non hindus are "bastards"

And Pakistanis enjoy most freedoms which Kashmiris can not. Hopefully that changes. You cant keep what was never yours. Just ask Kashmiris what they think about india's presence and you'll get more than just an ear-ful and a lot of abusive language

Thirteen dead as militants attack Kashmir army camp
(AFP) / 5 December 2014

Three of the assailants also died in a shoot-out at the army camp in Uri, near the Line of Control (LoC) that divides the disputed Himalayan region.

Srinagar — A militant attack on an army camp in Jammu Kashmir killed seven soldiers and three police on Friday, an official said, as the tense Muslim-majority state votes in local elections.

Three of the assailants also died in a shoot-out at the army camp in Uri, near the Line of Control (LoC) that divides the disputed Himalayan region.

The attackers struck days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was due to visit Kashmir, where thousands of extra paramilitary troops have been deployed for month-long local polls.

“Seven army men, three police and three terrorists died in the firing incident,” a senior police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.

N.N. Joshi, the army spokesman in Srinagar said only that “the operation is on”, without giving any details.

Uri, home to a large army base housing several hundred soldiers, is around 100 kilometres (60 miles) northwest of the regional capital Srinagar, where Modi is due to campaign on Monday.

The prime minister’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is staging a bold attempt to seize control of the Jammu and Kashmir legislature, a move unthinkable until very recently.

Turnout was high for the first phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir state on November 25, when more than 70 per cent of the electorate cast their ballots in 15 constituencies.

But the polls have brought increased violence. Friday’s attack followed a major gun battle earlier this week in which an Indian soldier and six militants were killed.

On Monday suspected rebels shot dead a village leader in an apparent attempt to disrupt the elections.

About a dozen rebel groups have been fighting Indian forces since 1989 for independence or to merge the territory with Pakistan. The fighting has left tens of thousands dead, mostly civilians.

Most separatist leaders opposed to Indian rule were either arrested or confined to their houses after elections were announced. Many had called on people to boycott the polls.

Jammu and Kashmir will vote in five phases, with results due on December 23.

Modi will on Monday address an election rally in Srinagar, a day ahead of the third phase of polling.

Most likely false flag indian staged attack to label Pakistan just before Putin (in Dec) and Obama (in Jan) visit in india. Typical indian killing mission. For Pakistanis or anyone else don't fall for indian propaganda lie.

No I think its not a false flag attack. Just Kashmiri fighters who are standing up against bullying.

1) Long story short, only those people will be in power whom the people want in power. Just like in any other part of India, and in any healthy democratic republic - the rulers can only rule with the consent of the ruled. People have all political rights and freedoms, and are not under occupation.

2) You are entitled to your political opinion, as is every Indian, and they are free to vote accordingly.

3) That was a horrible remark, and the PM himself condemned it. She got flak from across the political spectrum. That goes to show that even making a bad statement is considered "extremist" in India, whereas even carrying AKs and grenades would not immediately be called extremist in Pak. Every group in Pak is islamic, and wants islamic laws enforced. No political party in India has tried to impose hindu laws by force. India is a secular democratic republic, with equal rights for all, notwithstanding the existence of people like her.

4) Please tell me a few freedoms that Pakistanis enjoy that Kashmiris don't. I've already given a counterexample - the freedom to elect their own govt; Pakistanis did not enjoy that right for half their existence. Kashmiris have every right that Biharis and Mumbaikars and Tamilians and any other Indian has, and then some more.

These scumbag terrorists are trying to disrupt a free and fair democratic process (elections). What does this say about their "cause"? Pathetic losers who are surely burning in hell for their sins as we speak.

It goes without saying these large scale attacks that have become an extreme rarity in Indian Kashmir these days are supported by outside elements almost entirely.

RIP to the brave soldiers and policemen who have been slain in this attack and RIP to the unfortunate civilians targeted by the terrorists.
