This is not a good thing to say.

BTW it doesn't matter who rules Karachi MQM or PTI but Karachi must be developed, it generates massive revenue & look at what it gets in return, targeted killings, kidnappings, mobile snatchings, extortions, feudals ruling the streets, etc etc. The thing is most Pakistanis even after 64+ years didn't accept Muhajirs by their hearts, if Punjabi has a different political/other opinion from Muhajir it is called valuable, whereas if a Muhajir has different opinion of something people criticize them & tell them 'you should be thankful, we(the natives) provide you a land to live'. Muhajirs are the patiotic Pakistanis(71 is the proof of that) but these other duffers are pushing them to corner. No matter you like it or not every one who lives in Pakistan(including FATA), opinion matters.

I disagree with this opinion.

Urdu speaking folks are not disregarded or sidelined in any way atleast in the places I have seen...I have a huge lot of Urdu speaking friends most of whom are relatives of migrants, yet they dont call themselves Muhajirs, heck even my grandparents migrated from India but we dont call ourselves Mohajir.

Isn't this our bad lick that after 65 years, a third generation Pakistani calls himself Mohajir?

This is only a card which is played by MQM to get sympathies, same as PPP uses BB and Shaheed for getting votes.

.
The only group that is left pushing around Urdu-speakers is MQM. Everyone, more or less, has accepted Urdu-speakers as true Pakistanis. Yet some people still go around claiming to be my sole representative and voice.....

My voice is PTI.... not MQM.

.
We should look for more provinces but intelligently. Not just for ease of administration but for a holistic solution of multiple problems.

.
I agree with most of your post but not with the LEA part. All provincial LEA's must serve under the Mayor/Governor in any modern country. Similar form should be applicable. As somebody has already stated, only defense & foreign affairs should reside with the federal Government.

Well its like work in progress. Personally I am against Karachi becoming a separate state, but if it helps Karachi to develop and reduces violence than I will grudgingly agree to it.

And that would be the mature thought and decision, to respect the mandate of those who live there. However, not everybody thinks like you do and even such a suggestion would bring up all kinds of accusations from RAW agent to traitor and what not. It's because our fellow countrymen are now allowed to reason or think logically, they are forced to look through a narrow, submissive vision which serves the feudals/landlords.

I disagree with this opinion.

If URDU speaking citizens of Pakistan are not sidelined, can you explain the quota system?

.
If the MQM were efficient and had a genuine vision, I would have voted, Yes - but Alas/ The larger problem in the Sindh is not the MQM but rather the Wadera - they have been THE problem ever since Pakistan was created -- Now if the MQM had any kind of strategic vision, they would partner with Karachi business element as their strong supporter and not parasite, if MQM had strategic vision they would promise and deliver, security for the investments of business, efficient infrastructure services, legislation that would allow FDI in the provinv e that were protected from security risks and RENT SEEKERS -MQM cannot claim that they did not get a chance, because they did get a chance and squandered it, they do nto deserve another until they have demonstrated the will to deliver, to demonstrate that they understand the obligations of "contract".

.
MQM has done development work in Karachi, but their pace has been painfully slow esp. when you look at the amount of time they spent being part of government.

Most of their efforts were wasted on hunting opponents and preventing other parties from entering Karachi's political arena.

.
The issue needs to be looked at from the point of view of what's beneficial for Pakistan and also Karachi.

A lot of people are looking at it from the ethnic point of view. But in reality Karachi is an multi-ethnic city and muhajirs and their descendants are probably a minority by now. Karachi is actually the biggest Pashtun city in the world with more of them than in Peshawar, Kabul and Kandahar combined. There are millions of Punjabis as well. If Karachi benefits than all ethnic groups will benefit and it will be good for the whole country.

At the moment Karachi is controlled by PPP waderas who get elected from interior Sindh. They have no stake in Karachi other than to make money from it. They don't even develop their own areas and cannot ever be expected to develop Karachi.

So wouldn't it be better to take Karachi out of the control of PPP feudals? A viable alternative that will cause the least turmoil among Sindhis is to give it a very strong Local Government.

Having local body elections is already part of the constitution but it's something provincial governments ignore. But with regards to Karachi the Federal Government and the Supreme Court can insist on it and the Sindh government can be forced to comply with the constitution. Some legal changes might be required to give the Karachi City government more powers over police, education, health etc. which are in provincial control at the moment, but are handled by cities in other countries.

If the local government in Karachi has 100 seats, then all ethnic groups will get representation as many areas of Karachi have different ethnic groups living in them.

Even with Karachi's 20 National Assembly seats, PMLN, PPP and PTI have one seat each. With 100 local body seats probably 30-40 seats will go to different parties and maybe 50-60 will go to MQM. So MQM will have a very strong opposition.

The issue with MQM is that they never get actual administrative control of Karachi, apart from during the local government in Musharraf's rule, and they did a good job at that time, which is why people still vote for them. If they have actual power and don't perform then the people of Karachi will get rid of them.

If people can rise above their biases and if Karachi is governed properly, then it will benefit all of Pakistan.

I fully support karachi as a separate province.......Mohajirs are creators of Pakistan, mohajir is respectable title as hijrat is a sacred duty of muslims but people made it a racist word, mohajir hona aik taana bun gaya......Ayub khan shifted dominance on beaurocracy from mohajirs to punjabis...and he poured salt on their wounds by shifting capital from karachi to islamabad...and to disturb the demographics of city, he settled pashtuns in karachi.....zolfiqar ali bhutto's quota system is highly descriminatory.....keeping in view their grievances and sacrifices for pakistan, they deserve a separate province.

I am not migrated hindustani who will only concentrate on one province. I am a Pakistani and i stand for my entire country.

The end point is this BS thread is aimed at MQM agenda and has no place. Karachi truely belongs to Sindhis of Pakistan and no foreigners have any right to snatch it.

Period

Mohajirs are hindostanis and foriegners? , i didnt expect such racism from senior member like you.....

"Mohajir key saath ziatiyan" were done, there is no doubt about it.

But who did the ziatiyan?

A poor Pashtoon brick layer?

A punjabi hawildar?

A Sindhi clerk?

or some non-existent Balochi?

If you are follower of that criminal fascist Altaf mota chor Bhatta khor, you will blame everyone else except only one group who is truly responsible for horrible crimes in Karachi.

Just one group.

sorry bro, but its my first hand experience to be called an indian by not sindhis(where we live), not pathans(whom we live with), not baloch but punjabis esp in as far away place as UK, you dont need a bigger proof that that and i didnt even say mohajir word to them

its not just my experience but this strange experience i shared with my another karachiite friend in UK and i was shocked when he said that he was called an indian too

how can you be so planely ignorant?, i have seen the world and experienced it

this is not the 'card ' played by MQM, stop calling this playing card, MQM didnt just came into existence based on some myth and there are ground realities because of which MQM came into being, you cant just ignore what happened to bengalis, you need to deal with it simple as that

if you think that pakistan is not ethnically divided then you are living in dreams my friend
