Pakistan's Standing Committee on Defence Production has recommended additional funding for state-owned naval shipbuilder Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW).

The committee said extra funding should be made available for the shipyard in the 2016-17 budget to procure a new shiplift and transfer system as well as undertake a wider modernisation programme, the details of which were not disclosed.

According to an official statement on 26 January, Pakistan's Minister of Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, said investment for KSEW could be made available through the government's public sector development programme. He added that such investment would significantly enhance KSEW's shipbuilding capacity.

KSEW is being expanded and be made ready for construction of Subs and some surface platforms.
The new SLTS is specially being installed for the subs.
The KSEW has changed remarkably in the last 10 years from a worn out yard to a pretty decent shipyard.
Construction of further platforms will enhance professionalism.

Come on yr ...............

Develop some Naval Muscles.............

You can't beat your chest for having F22P and light frigates of similar configuration................

Have a good look at markets in Turkey and CHina................. develop some respectful surface fleet along with Sub fleet.......

Can we expect more increments in Navy funds..............? For safe guarding Gawadar and respective naval trade routes........?

And the money will come from?
Resolving the insurgency issue in FATA. A war is a war, and the war in FATA has been a major pull on Pakistan's limited defence resources. Not only that, but the stigma of being locked in an internal conflict has had indirect economic consequences as well. If successfully wrapped up or at least contained and isolated, Pakistan could proceed towards modernizing its navy.

Atleast there is no problem in keeping wishes high.......................... once Gawadar port will become operational........ more money will come...... and defense budget is bound to increase........ so Navy will also see some major upgrades.........

And that's the problem, there seems very little chance of the insurgency being resolved any time soon. The fighting could drag on for decades and forestall much in the way of FDI and economic progress. I hope things change but i'm not too optimistic.
