Was talking in the context of low income areas like small plots of 60, 80, 120 sq yards in many areas I've mentioned earlier, that has given millions of people shelter, a roof over themselves compared to say Mumbai where low cost housing is non existent, either there are huge slums and housing for the rich which is not affordable to a large part of city dwellers.

these 60, 80 sq yards plotting is the reason that Karachi is so horrible to look at. they should have built apartment complexes, where the same land could have been be used by 50 families, instead of just 2 or 3. would left land for other purposes.

The government simply demarcated the plots and did basic civil work in Korangi, Surjani, Taiser town, many other areas, KDA did built many apartments in Gulshan and Jauhar, that was insufficient, many low income people in millions simply bought the plots in say Surjani for as low as 1 lac rupee and started building simple homes, with basic utility design.

It is not possible for the government to construct low cost apartments in large numbers without any proper housing policy for the lower income. This was important, elite housing was never an issue...many options available for them. Earlier builders like Al-Azam use to build low cost good quality apts...gone now, Maymar bulders is also not active, new players are into elite apartments and not into affordable housing.

the red area just north of a block was meant to be a hospital land, but illegal squatter settlement has been built over it. the entire pahari has been taken over illegally and illegal houses built over it, it could have been easily developed like the hill park, but now it is a hub of crimes and utilities theft (north of entire north nazimabad).

it is quite funny how we hear news of rangers raiding sbca and kda offices, but they themselves are involved in large scale illegal land grabbing. the land that belongs to kda and kmc. the two circles i have shown, they are alone worth billions of rupees, and the rangers are now reportedly launching a housing scheme there. loot k maal say aur ziada faida uthaya ja rha hai, mqm, anp, ttp, aur rangers main koi farq nahi. aik qoum parasti k naam pr dehshat phelatay hain, dusray riyasat k naam par.

Agree with you, have seen many amenity plots in north Nazimabad and other areas going into the hand of Qabza Mafia and gone with China cutting and sold many times over.

Very difficult to give the exact price, but considering that a 1000 sq. yards bungalow, architect designed and with all the perks associated with upscale living costs around 20-25 crore in DHA Karachi, in the above picture the plot is about 3000 sq. yards and Lalazar is one of the most expensive. It must be over 50 crore...a rough estimate...could be higher
