Karachi rangers killed husband who was arguing with his wife, wife sustained injuries

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

There should be strict over watch on rangers and police so that such incidents don't happen.Trigger happy law enforcement is not good

In all seriousness, this country is fine.. the land is pretty.. just need to euthanize a lot of people in it. .. some 40% of the population.

Phir waaapis aa jaooo naa ! :kiss3:

Armstrong & Oscar - Changing the destiny of our Sacred Motherland ! :smokin:

But of course I'm gonna have to have you 'dealt with' in the due course of time when you start challenging my authority ! :agree:

But on a serious note - Whats the point of having a country if we're all going to give up on it before even reaching middle-age & then looking for a better life elsewhere ?

I often clash with my cousins on this - They want a better Pakistan, a Pakistan where Poverty, Hunger & Illiteracy are a thing of the past but because they don't think they'd see it in their life time's most of them have gone abroad & gotten settled down over there !

My contention is - Where the foOk would that better Pakistan come from if we all keep on doing this ?

So my generation will suffer - it won't buy stuff off Walmart or Target & it won't get to stroll the National History Museum or something & then won't have the opportunity to work for a blue-chip company - So what ?

If my generation's suffering can ensure that the generation after is going to be better than mine & the generation after them is going to be even better in terms of the Human Development Indicators that are, in many ways, the marks of Progress than how can I be so selfish & think - Lets move to Canada or Australia or some other first world country & live a good life with occasionally sending money home, maybe sponsering a child or two here or some of those other feel-good pious things that people with too much money & too little time & a sense of hollowness instead of them do !

Yaaar be Pakistani & build Pakistan up from here....in our Sacred Homeland !

Here is the simple problem with that.. and Ill use this very incident to demonstrate. The Rangers killed a man arguing with his wife, Normally.. that is not a problem. However, the law and order situation is soo bad that the rangers were paranoid enough to decide to shoot rather than risk going closer to the guy.

What does that tell you? People on the street are ready to lynch each other given the opportunity. Here in khi.. I HATE THE GUY in the car next to me.. I hate him before knowing him.. because I automatically assume that he is going to try and shove me into a corner and end up hitting me. He is in a hurry.. so am I. I see a guy on a motorbike.. I automatically make plans to run away if needed.. or run him over if required.. first.. because he may be a thief.. .the second is because if he scratches my car from his careless maneuvering.. I want his skin... a pound of flesh if anything. Why do I care for his pound of flesh? because I am sick of some fellow delaying my payment for goods on Inshallahs and Mashallahs.. so why should I tolerate a Motorbike guy in a hurry and being careless? I could be more patient with the Inshallah Mashallah guy.. except I need to pay other people.. and they too have their problems. They need to buy groceries with the money I give, pay school fees.. and they are tense about it. Sure, everybody in the world is tense to a certain level.. but when those guys get back from work.. after being stopped by Policemen over no context and based on no profiling.. they have to dish out a 100 or 200 bucks to get away from them. When those guys get home, they find the wife complaining of late food.. because there was no gas.. and no electricity... and when they get sick of that..they decide to watch some tele.. what they see is ten dead.. strike tomorrow.. petrol prices up.. and the same policemen that stopped them. Those policemen, they need the money.. because 20000 does not cut it for their stations SHO.. who has to make money this way so he can pay for fuel and basic upkeep of his vehicles which were abandoned by the government once they were bought..and any maintenance money gets eaten up in the higher order. So he takes the bribes... keeps some for himself.. some for the DSPs...and others.. some he distributes lower.. and then the others he outlines for getting diesel for the only two workable vans out of his motor pool of eight.
He doesnt like what he does, but he does it.... he envies the Army guys.. going by more secure in terms of their earnings in his eyes.. at least their vehicles get maintained. But he has to keep paying the same cops collecting bribes... Cops that I have to worry about.. whenever my brother returns from his tuition alone so that they dont bother him.. while I also worry about motorcycle thieves and speeding government officials with illegal escorts.. and speeding feudal.. and I despise all of them.. I wish them death this instant. So everytime I catch a breath.. I only hate this place.. I only hate the people who live in it.
And I dont want a bit of it.. not for me.. not for my family... If I have the opportunity to go to a better place.. Ill take it.

this is the real world my friend not cyber world and cyber games where u click one button and uhhh dead
Sure, Im not the one putting MQM support here.. I'd rather be there in CoP and DCRC meetings. Real things and issues happen there.

come on man, you are behaving very childish now, nobody has even brought MQM, you are just putting rants nothing else

.
I suspect there maybe some thing more behind this, we all know how the media conveniently shows only half the picture...

RIP to the husband though.

yup, you guys will keep justifying them? why? do you really trust the LEAs so much?

I brought in MQM.. I dont see anybody else telling me that its childish. Is the rangers attitude an issue? Yes.. are you concerned only as a Karachi dweller?? Im not sure.

I would have said that your views are pessimistic but unfortunately upon closer viewing I find them startlingly realistic....

Aww. That is sad to hear, but shouldn't you be trying to do everything you can for the great country by staying there? Or are you saying that those who left before you only came to this conclusion before you and were therefore correct? Or may be we love to advise others to do what we will not do ourselves? Your lament raises interesting questions, to say the least.

On topic, placing military forces in situation of prolonged public contact is bound to result in incidents like these, just like in the other now-closed thread,

What is standard operating procedure of Rangers in Karachi? shot and then see?

Atleast they should have warned before opening fire.. seriously lacking basics...

RIP.

p.s. be careful with your wives on roads of Karachi, you might not see the sun again !

Nope.. Ive done my bit and dont want to do anymore.. but at least I dont critique others who are trying just for the heck of it.. keeping quiet is better than constant pathetic rants of "you will fail". So I will continue to bash others as much as want if they give undue critique when they arent making those efforts at the spot.. in the environment right now. However, they are welcome to enjoy their longest winter yet from a cozy home.

So husband wife were fighting and Rangers guy thought they were robbers?

U got to be kidding me.

How can the critique be undue when it is correct in concluding failure? Cheering on efforts that are destined for failure is only encouraging wasted efforts that maintain the status quo.

On topic, this is not the first such fatal incident involving the Rangers in Karachi. Perhaps the higher-ups need to review some aspects of the rules of engagement if they exist.
