K-Electric on Sunday suspended power supply in several areas of Karachi as the fourth monsoon spell continued to wreak havoc in the metropolis.
The port city’s lone power supplier said it had suspended the electricity supply on account of safety. "Power will be restored when water levels subside. Inconvenience is regretted,” stated a message by the power utility to its customers on Sunday evening.
Earlier, heavy rainfall lashed parts of Karachi on Sunday with more downpours expected over the next two days.
According to the local rainfall data released by the regional office of the PMD, the highest amount of rainfall received during the last 24 hours was in Quaidabad (4.5mm), followed by Saddar (4mm), Korangi (3mm), Gulshan-i-Hadeed (3mm), PAF Masroor base (2.4mm), Orangi Town (2mm), University Road (1.5mm), PAF Faisal base (1.5mm), Keamari (1.4mm), Jinnah Terminal (0.8mm), DHA Phase 2 (0.6mm), North Karachi (0.6mm) and old airport area (0.6mm).
Meanwhile, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said that the rain intensity is most likely to increase in the evening.
“The current spell of monsoon rain is likely to continue for the next three days,” he said. “Intermittent showers will continue till 12pm tomorrow.”
The chief meteorologist added that the heavy rainfall may cause inundation, flooding, and water logging in low-lying areas.
He maintained that Karachi is expected to receive 130 to 150mm of rainfall under the current spell.

Mr Malik Riaz showcased what is possible with Bahria Town city planning if the correct person is incharge , of planning who can organize the city with well educated and trained people
But the poor guy was illegally charged , Taxes after the Land was sold and he had committed massive fortune
If a City planner like Malik Riaz was given incharge of Karachi City or few of it's districts I am sure he can turn the city around

Me as an outsider , Bahria Town is closest thing to 90's Saudi Arabia Urban Planning
Can't compare it to UAE yet due to lack of high rises but well planned
The problem is for 40-50 years Karachi residents or resident of Pakistan have become used to the filth on roads and neglect they have forgotten how a Managed city actually looks like

There is a reason federal govt has moved PIA HQ, Stock Exchange, bank HQ's, office of standards, to Islamabad. Even PN HQ moved to Islamabad.
Just that they cannot move Arabian sea to Islamabad.
Rest of Pakistan actually enjoys when Karachi suffers.
So don't complain now because we supported Pakistan during Pakistan Movement.

Not really. Didn't say we relocate Zardari and his cronies. We can gag them, put them in the balcony with a nice view in the general direction of where the nukes supposed to drop. Prolly put a go pro there as well for good measure and live stream the whole damn thing.

Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that Monday, July 25, will be a public holiday in Karachi and Hyderabad Divisions, after relentless rain continued on Sunday, causing urban flooding and suspension of power in many areas. A notification was also issued, which advised the private sector to keep businesses closed.
