Three alleged militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during a raid by Rangers personnel in the Gulshan-e-Buner area of Landhi, Karachi, Express News reported on Friday.

The security officers raided TTP hideoutsafter receiving a tip off that the militants were planning an attack on the 10th of Muharram.

The militants reportedly retaliated and during the exchange of fire, one Rangers official also lost his life.

Hand grenades and weapons were also seized during the operation.

Terrorist organizations like the TTP have left very little to ponder in regards to their terrorist agenda. Thousands of innocent people have fallen victim to their atrocities in Pakistan alone. It is easy to see that they have stepped up their terrorist activities in the city of Karachi. The need of the hour is to send a stern message to these repeat offenders. The law and order must preside in order to restore peace in the city. We commend the brave security personnel who are working night and day to end violence in the city. It is simply in our best interest to see a safe and secure Pakistan. We cannot have a safe and secure region without a safe and secure Pakistan. We fully support the government of Pakistan and stand united in regards to our peace objectives in the region.

I want to praise the rangers for eliminating any threat on muharram. These brutal militants deserve to be crushed very badly by us Pakistanis. They have killed 50000 Pakistani civilians and soldiers and it is about time to punish them severely. We need a solid mechanism that eliminates terrorists utterly before they can do damage.

I am glad that we have foiled an attack today but I hope we stop all such attacks and muharram progresses with perfect ease.

Great news. Across the entire country terror bids are being foiled by police. Munewar Hassan must be burning in pain.

Terror plot foiled: Police kill six suspected militants in Karachi
By AFP
Published: November 14, 2013
KARACHI: Pakistani police on Thursday shot dead six suspected militants thought to be planning a major sectarian attack and seized explosives, suicide vests and weapons in a raid in Karachi, an official said.

The men, who police said were members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), a banned extremist group, were allegedly planning to attack a Shia gathering on Friday.

Ashura processions have been targeted in the past and security has been beefed up across the country in preparation.

“We carried out an operation against the terrorists on an intelligence tip-off,” Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam, who led the raiding team, told AFP.

A fierce gun battle broke out during the raid in Maripur town in Karachi, in which three officers were wounded and six suspected militants were killed, he said.

LeJ has claimed numerous deadly attacks on Shias, who make up around 20 percent of the 180 million population, including two devastating bombings in Quetta at the start of the year.

Police said the LeJ were plotting to attack the grand congregation of Shias in Karachi.

They said the raid recovered suicide vests, hand grenades, detonators, remote control devices and a car bomb, besides two motorcycles.

The shootout came after a series of small bomb attacks late on Wednesday targeting Shias in Karachi, which injured at least seven people.

Besides deploying contingents of army and paramilitary security forces, cell phone networks have been shut down in some cities to prevent remote-controlled bomb attacks.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chaudhry Aslam, police launched a search operation near Lucky Pahari in Mauripur upon receiving a tip-off on the Terrorist’ whereabouts, following which the Terrorist opened fire.

Police resorted to counter-firing. During the exchange of fire between the two sides, three policemen sustained injuries where six Terrorist, including two suicide bombers were killed, CID police claimed.

The Dead P.I.G.S were identified as Gul Hasan, Muhammad Arif, Khalid Hussain, Maqbool Ahmed, Naveed Arif Chota and Ghulam Kadir.

Chaudhry Aslam claimed that Gul Hasan was involved in more than fifty cases of sectarian killings in Karachi.

The Terrorist were also said to be involved in the infamous attacks on Sindh High Court judge Justice Maqbool Baqar and Imambargah Ali Raza among others, the SSP alleged.

Meanwhile, two suicide jackets, five Kalashnikovs, two TT pistols, two hand-grenades and a huge quantity of arms were recovered during the operation.

According to the SSP, the Terrorist hailing from the outlawed LeJ were planning to target the Hussainia-Iranian Imambargah in the Khardar area of Karachi.
