KARACHI: The Sindh government called for Thursday to be a day of mourning following a deadly attack on Karachi's Ismaili community on Wednesday.

Public offices will be flying flags at half-mast and a prayer will be said for those killed in the attack.

MQM and Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council also called for a day of mourning.

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain requested all businesses, educational institutions and public transportation be suspended on Thursday.

The call for a day of mourning comes after the Sindh government's announcement for the same.

At least 43 people were killed and 13 others wounded on Wednesday when armed men opened fire inside a bus carrying members of the Ismaili community near Safoora Chowk in Karachi.

Sindh Police Inspector General Ghulam Haider Jamali said that 60 people were on board the bus when six gunmen entered and executed 43 passengers.

KARACHI: At least 47 people were killed in Pakistan's Karachi on Wednesday when terrorists entered a packed bus and opened fire.

Reports suggest 25 men and 16 women have been killed. There were around 60 passengers, including children, on the bus, mostly from the Ismaili community.

A pamphlet found at the site has claimed the role of the Islamic State in the killings and has threatened more attacks.

Witnesses say six men came on three motorbikes, entered the bus and fired indiscriminately for nearly 10 minutes. Most passengers were reportedly shot in the head at close range.

The bus driver is believed to have been shot first. TV footage showed a pink bus covered in bullet holes.

"There were six terrorists on three bikes. They got off the bikes, climbed the bus and opened fire using 9 mm pistols," a senior police officer told reporters.

The bus reportedly belongs to the Al-Azhar Garden Colony, which is an Ismaili housing project in Karachi. Ismailis are members of the minority Shia community.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, the worst since January 30, when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque in the southern Shikarpur district, killing 61.

Anti-Shiite attacks have been increasing in recent years in Karachi and also in the southwestern city of Quetta, the northwestern area of Parachinar and the far northeastern town of Gilgit.

Around 1,000 Shiites have been killed in the past two years in Pakistan.

not civilians.. the killers are killing shias .. which as per their ideology are kafirs or even worse false worshippers. yuo will find tons of patrons of these killers in PDF.
Just keep your eyes open in ME threads.
they are handful not too many as you are saying but this cant be prevented dear unfortunately.
you will find such depraved people in every society who have genocidal views about others
look at the racist riots in the west where the coloured people are lunched for example and their agencies foil plots where the supremacists have bombing plans etc.

there is no justification for killing innocent people who have not provoked you but put a hand on your heart and tell me looking at the communal riots in India, does every Hindu extremist have the same moral high ground as you?

in short there maybe few terrorist supporters on PDF but they are loathed by our majority I assure you about that

Idk how these people get weapons.

There is a country called India - ever heard of it? Many a times weapons these terrorists used were made in "that country".

Let the second phase of Karachi operation begin.. terrorists are asking for it.
I mentioned the counter plan by the hostile agencies and their allied operators few weeks back already.
prevention is the cure actively seeking and eradicating them them in the cities is needed
you cant win terrorism by passive defence.

for a start gag the proponents and supporters of such act hint Lal masjid, the Cleric refused to condemn the Peshawar tragedy. you can bet your dollar he will actually praise and justify this killing. we have such rascals among us that are only few but their toxic effect is very devastating.

This is the result of halting the execution of terrorists by the Supreme court. I hope Asma Jhangir can explain this to the families of the victim.
she was very happy that she managed to stop the hanging of terrorists on the advice of military courts.

together with me join and curse

Ch Iftikhar 100 times
Asma Jhangir 100 times
Justice Jawad S Khawaja and other Ch Iftikhar allied judges

Sunis killing Shias out of no reason? In Baluchistan, they were killing Hazara and call it a "Shia Genocide" in the name of Baluchistan rights. Good terrorists have been beaten down to their extinction there. Now in Karachi.. Suni Killing Shias... why? To appease the devta of terrorism? They have no issue neither they are "dagers drawn" against the other. Why these killings then?

MQM in Karachi is about to face their final show and Indians are desperate to save this terrorist organization - thus trying to create a "side issue" so the attention could be diverted.
its ur own shit .. outcome of petro dollars. blaming others won't help.

Don't troll.. we don't blame you where you are not responsible but why should you be not blamed where you are? Indian Media is airing programs in the favor of MQM and "how ISI is depriving them from their rights". You guys are all open on this and are yelling your hiddenn agendas now open and loud.

India will pay - have to pay - and pay until Justice is done. We don't believe in "interest" - just the much you've taken from us.

You are trolling here not me. Keep your BS to yourself.

Well said someone (Zakhmi Kutta Buhat Jald Katta hey)..................

MQM's RAW nexus are exposed badly here since i couldn't observe a reasonable analysis over 12 pages where viewer's attentions and thinking is diverted to fake IS Khurasaan threat which actually not existed in Pakistan to extent of magnitude of this atrocity.

People are usually calculating on short scale of events happening around and sometime very easy victims of attempts to divert issue over universal cause of happening.

Altaf-MQM leadership in Pakistan's condition is now like the wounded dog waiting to compensate its injuries. Altaf/MQM's RAW nexus are exposed badly in current operation and in confessions of its own target killer.

Picture is quite horrific when that's already has knows fact that India/UK/US/Gulf states are likely using this Ex-military mind child's hostile & barbaric expertise to continue unrest in Pakistan specially in Karachi.

Current attack comes in context of continuation of punishment for Pakistan over its growing economic cooperation with China and most important MQM against PMLN......indeed it will portray out of discussion material but in fact the jolts of this incident will hit the area & point where it should be & Indian attempts to sabotage peace of Northern areas shouldn't be ignored and example of their evil initiative we have observed in Nanga Purbat base camp killings, TTP claim in hitting Army Helicopter in Naltar AND MANY MORE.

Don't forget that Chitral and Baltistan has majority of Ismaili section and current attempt is to get favor of Ismaili community by India, UK, USA to use them against Pakistan which will result into hurdles of mega projects planned by federal government where these ANP (Bacha Khan KI Aolaad) already came into picture against PCEC on behalf of their Indian Lords.

Category of this crime not so different from crimes/target killing or mass killing has done in previous years before Karachi operation.

Pamphlet found on crime spot is well planned attempt from RAW supported MQM to escape from the scene physically, politically and in general public opinion.

Time has come when MQM/ANP,BLA should be scratched completely from my Mother Land.

Oh but we do believe in interest.
And Pakistan will be made to pay for a lot of what it has done.
