What's new

Karachi-bound ship held in Gujarat over cargo that can be used in missile launch

It has to be declared. That's the first basic thing. I have experienced first hand trying to ship a "dual use" tech for civilian use to another country and going to do host of paperwork on this to get things done. Any it depends on specifications. These missile related dual use items are regulated by MTCR. Not sure if autoclave comes under that dual use items. If this autoclave specs.match against the MTCR rules then yes it will be confiscated and a breach of missile tech.proliferation
What is the breach of MTCR, its a autoclave which makes alloys, is this autoclave relative to MTCR, don't be stupid

Well India Has detained cargo ship carring ballistic missile part from China to Pakistan

again false propaganda even other Indian sources are reporting it as
Indian customs officials detained a ship bearing a flag of Hong Kong and bound for Port Qasim in Karachi. The officials seized the ship as it was carrying an autoclave -- a pressure chamber that is used for launching ballistic missiles, Hindustan Times reported

Now it's a simple industrial equipment with many different use, even in the construction of composite material parts, so associating it with missile program is nothing but an script written by some 3rd rated Bollywood writer ....

If a ship is bound to another country, does transit port have the legal authority to detain its goods bound for the other country???

Nobody is so stupid that they will send the sensitive equipments in Ships that will be anchored in an enemy port. Ships are sitting ducks. Sensitive equipements are carried by Aircrafts no matter how many sorties would be required

Oh no! Pakistan ki napak sajish foiled by Vedic super powa again.

Why didn't we ship this crucial component over land, or over air, - why did we send it via the sea? What will be? This is ultimate revenge for Feb last year where we pulled down Indians lungi and exposed it's tiny ______

You do know wion is an Indian propaganda mouthpiece controlled directly by Indian govt?

Which foolish world does people who believe such news live in? Why the hell would China ship missile by sea when it can easily through land? Secondly why would the ship dock at bhart? Thirdly if it was a missile, you do know the consequences? I'm sure the common mechanism would be to have secret under covers on board who would blew the ship up before anything.

Some attention seeking fellow looking for promotion decided to create this entire drama after realizing the ship is going to stop in Pakistan as well finds the oddest item - an industrial autoclave - used for a variety of things including aerospace applications.. and decides to create the bollywood drama around it.

Should have declared it as an autoclave instead of declaring it as an industrial dryer.

That is the question if this autoclave is a specs mentioned in MTCR. Only an investigation will reveal. But if it is, then there will be a problem.

Let's see if India can stop and detain the same forever. No worries in the end as it will reach the final destination while attention seeking 56" needed something to gloat about since Trump will be visiting India. What I am surprised is that they didn't claim it to be something like pair of nukes weighing half KG or 250 grams but it is ok as at last Indian Authorities called it Ballistic Missile Part.

I have a question for WION and other propaganda houses that how come you expect China sending such crucial & sensitive equipment to Pakistan while ship has to dock in India; in view of hostilities and India's ever bollywood drama episodes?

Why would we need to ship something sensitive while it can be easily transported through road? Or why would a sensitive cargo ladden ship dock there?
It's common sense, isn't it?
They say its a dual use tech, the owners and the ship company can easily sue the Indians for holding up a dual use item then.
Its not sensitive ..thats why..sensitive cargo is flown in pieces not shipped

End result insurance will pay for it and ships will try to dock in other ports to work out the issue.

The tip-off, HT learns, came from Hong Kong to the highest levels of Indian intelligence. Indian operatives are believed to have sent a message that the ship could be carrying dual-use technology products — those that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. The US has also been maintaining a close watch on the Chinese shipping companies after it imposed sanctions on Iran, but it isn’t immediately clear whether the US provided any intelligence. The US had also imposed sanctions on some of the Chinese shipping companies.

After the ship was prevented from leaving, an inspection by the customs department found that the “ declaration (on the nature of cargo) wasn’t matching,” a fourth senior official at Kandla port said on condition of anonymity. “Prima facie, it appears the vessel violated the Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies (Scomet) regulations,” this person added.

Category 4 and 5 of the Scomet regulations deal with the transport of dual-use technology, especially those that can be used for the production of nuclear warheads. The regulations were introduced after the UN confirmed that Iraq had used chemical weapons on Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. The regulations are designed to control the export and prevent the proliferation of technologies and equipment which can be used in the manufacture or disposal of chemical and biological weapons. Dual-use items are also considered contributors to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
