Good point. Most of the recent construction has been driven by developers without much input from proper city planning.

Without proper city planning, you end up with an abundance of one type and a scarcity of another.

If sufficient business/commercial districts were with reasonable rents and spread out evenly, it would allow more economic activity and would also help enterprising entrepreneurs.

No allocated parks and socialising places, entertainment venues etc which make cities vibrant and give them their cultural touch.

Are you out if your mind? Those were all poor people whose daily sustenance was tied with those encroachments. These people will either need to find some place else to put up their stalls. And if they find no place, you just increased the number of people who have nothing to do and harbor resentment against the government. This is not social welfare, this is tyranny of the privileged against the poor.

People with skill and will will find there way to earn for here family the legal way if illegal activity is banned. Law is law. There is no excuse of being poor or rich. Shopkeepers and small businessmen are not poor. Leave the conjusted areas open up the markets to cover more of the metropolis that speeds up the development. The conjusted markets limits economic growth of a city, skyrockets real estate of specific areas for no reason, Make is difficult to start business.
