Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for vice president, making her the first black woman on a major party's White House ticket.

In her Democratic National Convention speech, she accused Trump of turning "our tragedies into political weapons." She urged Americans to vote for Joe Biden, "a president who will bring all of us together."

"Donald Trump's failure of leadership has cost lives and livelihoods," the former California prosecutor charged in her acceptance speech.

But there was something else in her speech which stood out - especially to her Indian-American voters.

Harris used the Tamil word, 'chithis.' The word which translates to 'aunt' sent Americans Google-ing what it meant, and for Indian-Americans and Tamilians watching from around the world, it came as a pleasant surprise - the first time someone spoke Tamil during an US Democratic speech.

. .
Well at least she will get the Tamil vote...

Few years back McCain made the mistake of choosing Sarah Palin as VP now Biden making same mistake by choosing Kamala. Don't think America is quite ready yet to have a woman as President and VP. Kamala is more Indian then Black. She just using Black to her advantage. The key word is URM (under representative minorities). Blacks and Latino and even Asian with dark skins consider themselves as URM to get into better schools and even better jobs. I am not blaming them but that's a fact. Kamala is technically black since her father a Jamaican immigrant but she is grown up as American Indian by her mother. American are not yet ready for Brown skin especially in Trump's America. Things are changed in last 4 years. But miracle do happened and Biden might pull this one under the Hat.

apparently, her mom is tamil and father is black. now I know that #blacklivesmatter and all that but her mommy just took it to a whole new level! :woot:

oh boy, that must've given the south indians many collective orgasmic farts through their bungholes!
Not all South Indians are Tamils. They're just one among the 5 states

Indians having wet dreams about an American who ran away from India when her parents were lucky enough to escape the shithole.
Her mother's father was a Indian diplomat and the mother herself is a senior cancer researcher in the US. Not from a deprived family at all.
Actually the mother who came to the US as a undergrad in the racist 60s is a poster girl for hard work matters in the usa.

.
Irony is her mother was a Cancer Research Scientist at Berkeley where she met her husband and she died of cancer herself. Berkeley is the most Liberal left wing University in America where in 50s 60s 70s Hippies were seen all over the town and Marijuana was readily available. She grew up in a Liberal town.

Kamala is the complete political package for vote bank politics
Saw her speak.Too political and confused in her ideas.
Democracies are cursed to elect people based on everything but competence.

This battle is for the state of Texas. With a huge and growing number of Indians in TX, the bigger the chance that it could color blue. Expect more niceties toward Indians - particularly in the US already. Both parties know TX can be the decider.
