What's new

Kamal: Bangladesh GDP reaches $411bn

Bold Part: Pakistan has this macho culture of fighting against India for nothing. No one can say anything against it. Take over Kashmir or perish.

This is exactly what India wants Pakistan to do. It wants Pakistan to perish by overspending money on the military. The arms race is harming India, too. But it has a bigger economy and a bigger base of wealth compared to Pakistan.

India still remains poor but it has almost caused the demise of the Pakistani economy. Now, the Pak Rupee is 177 to 1 dollar. It is 75.79 Indian for 1 US.
It's not a macho culture. It is requirement for survival. Besides military is the only properly functioning institute in Pakistan. It's military who won Pakistan survival in various occasions like 48, 50's vs Afghanistan, 65, 80's soviet war, 99, wot, 2019 skirmish, American withdrawl, and countless covert wars.

What pakistan need is one party rule like Bangladesh. Act as democracy but have single party rule.

No we absolutely 100% NEED democracy
But parliamentary system is trash, we need a change in the system
Not ending of democracy

And I agree with macho culture bs though

can we barrow this guy for a week we want to increase our GDP to 500bn$ in one week

Didn't Pakistan also rebase its economy recently? Your latest GDP estimate is $346 billion after rebasing, which is a 15% increase (prior to rebasing). Per capita income is $1666 in nominal terms

Bangladesh's GDP before rebasing was around $356 (IMF April 2021 figure) or $365 according to BBS (late 2021 figure). After rebasing it's $411 billion, which is a 15% increase over prior estimations before rebasing. Though per capita increase is a bit more robust, around 14%. Mostly due to population growth (our yearly population growth is half yours)

It's almost as if BBS and its Pakistani counterpart got together and shared how to fudge... I mean re-base their GDP calculations. Goofing aside, both countries now have a lot of industries that weren't taken into account in GDP calculations.

Rebasing went along fine, but the problem was the devaluation of the Pakistan Rupee I believe.

Not an economist - so correct me if I'm off base.

What invasion you are talking about here? You have been completely kicked out of our country by our bravado. It was India that saved the lives of your 93,000 troops by taking them POWs and also your prestige by doing so.

Pakistani generals wanted Indian intervention at the last moment to save their faces when our Mukti groups were winning in all the sectors. This is why you attacked first from the western sector. Please read somewhere to know which country started airforce attacks first.

You are right about what India thinks. But India enjoys Pakistan's maco culture because it will cause Pakistan to waste money on the military, will neglect development, and destroy its economy.

But you guys just do not try to understand this small thing.
That's some of the biggest grade A revisionist hogwash I've read in a while, that the mighty mutki terrorist army was going to overrun Pakistan Army and that Indian Army only came into E. Pakistan to rescue PA and not to liberate Bengalis.

Where was your bravado immediately after kicking "us" out of your country when waves of your bengali compatriot migrant kept coming into Pakistan for better future and livelihood in the 70's, 80's and 90's?

As for the mighty mukti, the only thing those terrorists were good at was massacring non-bengalis civilians.

Bhais let's keep politics out of this thread, can we? This has been discussed ad infinitum and there is a sticky thread for that too.

I myself have seen the main thread on Bangladesh in Indian forums with this beautiful title "Idiotic sinking state of Bangladesh".

Kaunsa Forum hai yeh?

We have a saying in Bangladesh, "Cows don't keel over dead on wishes of vultures".

Even if all of Bangladesh goes underwater, we will still be here.

We already grow rice in salt water inundated land and also grow vegetables without any soil (on water).

Even slum babies in Bangladesh learn how to swim from age two/three.

iu

Bangladesh is not going anywhere.

The one and only D F I. Where you're quite famous.. Bilal. Their whole Bangladeshi thread runs with screenshots of your posts here in PDF.

Sometimes I think Indians would die of boredom if it weren't for Pakistan and Bangladesh. They literally have nothing to do except abusing us/making plans for taking back AJK. Their 90% life, education, and discussions revolves around PAKISTAN.

With all the talk of GDP from BD it doesnt reflect when you see its cities/highways/infrastructure. Most of its cities dont even look half of PK cities and thats the reason why am suspicious of its GDP. When a country grows it shows but cant see much here.

Seems alot of number fudging to me given how high the numbers are going in a matter of months.

Well in that case Laakhon Shukria to the mods here to give me a platform to voice the truth that so worries Hindutva hearts to the max. :-)

If little ol' me is the subject of their obsession, then I am humbled. آداب عرض ہے

Also, these people are (as you rightly said) are bored $hitless beyond their daily highlights - tantric meditation in the morning before Tilak ceremony and daily evening two teaspoonful consumption of "Ayurvedic Chyawanpraash". Some Indian buddies told me about this, never tried it.

Why don't they let go of their obsession, stop worrying about Pakistan, let foot-loose, get boinky-boinky laid and keep gharwaale happy?

That would solve so many things at the same time.

Pakistani cities spent on road and communication infra early (20 years ago) and in massive amounts.

Bangladesh was still poor at the time and we could not match it because economy was doing very badly at the time.

In the last couple of years new road infra is coming up as well as BRT/MRT systems and while these are being built - things will continue to be chaotic.

Now if I start posting these videos, then another set of insults will be hurled at me and others to give up on 'puffery'.

Why don't you ask about specifics then I will try to cater to your requests.

Besides - GDP is reflected not only on road infra, but how healthy and educated a population is, how many women are out in the workforce etc.

I do admit some of the BBS data may possibly be fudged.

The poster you replied has already been told many times about "accumulated wealth" but just finds it too painful to accept BD has surpassed Pakistan in nominal per capita and has now veen matched it in per capita PPP.

I would leave them be as in 15-20 years down the line even they would be too embarrassed to try to compare the two countries as any equivalence.

While I wish Pakistan well, it needs 10-15 years of sustained social and economic reforms before it gets to the growth stage that BD is at now.

Pakistan is working quietly and discreetly without the bluster and hubris...:woot:

BTW Pakistan PPP GDP is still higher than of BD's. Check the exports growth and remittances growth(both declined in BD), big rise in tax collection, huge rise in registration of new companies, private sector offtake loans seeing a huge increase, big investment in export oriented industry, agri sector reforms, all points to a better picture. SEZ's and Tech. zones.

Check the startup rise wrt to BD's. Pakistan need to take a cue from BD for its HDI improvement measures...

Pakistan and its economy gets a lot of negative criticism fom Indian media, not just the Godi media and west too, that has actually helped, taking it as positive criticism won't let in the despondency and over confidence and waking up to the reality leads to working harder.

The rate at which BD is going up is very suspicious. Its jumping from $1600 to 2000 and then 2500 in a matter of few months. Every other few months there is a claim by a minister in BD how big the GDP is now. The whole thing is fishy.

A common brand like mcdonalds wouldnt even come to BD. Most brands come to India/PK and completely avoid BD.

Pakistan is not fudging data. Our PPP is $6500 after rebasing our economy yesterday and that actually shows on the ground.

BD per capita seems to shooting up 100% each month. With the kind of authoratarian government BD has I wont be surprised if there is massive data fudging.

Consumption of cement/oil/cars/electricity is higher in PK and in most cases almost double which leads me to believe the data not being true.
