Please Indians refren from commenting on those who feel names of missiles are based on Hindu God, goddess. We have discussed the topic in another thread where we have establish that names are Sanskrit keyword representing different things.

Akash - Sky
Nag - Snake
Trishul - trident
Brahmos - Brahmputra + Moss... river

I doubt on your statement.. Sunsikrat is not the only language that India speaks. Can you give example of militry hardware named in Gujrati or Marathi, or Punjabi or even Urdu? In Hinduizm, Agni is worshiped, so is Naag Devta, Trishool is the weapon of Hindu Lords. You have named a ballistic missile after "Prithvi" which was a Hindu Raaj and Brahmoos has "Brah" extracted from Brahmaputera river, that means "Son of Brahma", again the Hindu not Sansikrat Literature Name.

Gujrati,Marathi and all the other languages save for Tamil are based on the Devanagari script....tamil if i am not wrong is based on the Pali script which shares ancestry with Sanskrit...

yeah...things would have been much simpler had we chosen to be a hindu state...the fact of the matter is that we are not.
Our Weapons are meant to kill...Dr. Abdul Kalam the missile man of India and our ex-president named these missiles...he is a muslim....
and at the height of his career supervised 24 different offices...including the ballistics R&D of ISRO and DRDO...

Whats your problem bhai? Why do U have to bring religion in every discussion.... Every one knows what secular India is and who Indians are, if pakistanis think otherwise its YOUR problem.... Do U think India (as a whole) does anything keeping Pakistan in mind(as a country) ??????????
If Indians , Hindus ,Muslims, Sikhs ,Christians , Jews, Jains ,Buddhists can live with any sanskrit name , WHY CANT YOU???

Do U remember the controversy with the inaugration of `ARIHANT?? The buddhists were not happy , coz of the name.. it had somthing to do with the name of their Saint. Just Imagine if we keep any of the missile or Submarine after Mohammad .

So leave the names alone dude, Having a sanskrit , punjabi , urdu name will not save `somebody` from the wrath of the weapon.....

hindi is derived from sanskrit as is bengali, marathi , punjabi, etc.(cant name all the languages, there are too many)

so when we name something in sanskrit we are not siding with hindi, we are all these sister languages.

also i want to point out that urdu is historically an amalgation of hindi and persian. so when using urdu , u are also paying homage to sanskrit.
