there are several issues if you are distributing the poultry to large percentage of the population ...
Chicken needs food. Where is the food coming from ?
The amount of animal waste from couple of hens can be ignored. if you have 5000 hens in the village there are health consequences
all it takes is to a virus to wipe out chicken stock in a village. given the proximity a virus will easily spread
I am not saying it is a bad idea. but more thought is required here
This makes sense. It's easy to say have 5 eggs and 2 roosters and live a happy life after but if somebody is really poor then they would struggle to get food for the hen as they can't feed themselves, hens eat all day along aswell, need clean water and the poor cant even find clean water for themselves, they need proper look after as they can die from diseases. I had 10odd chickens in the village and out of nowhere a few healthy chickens died. Then at times disease come and kills them all off.
Those who had 1000 chicks at time lost most of them due to diseases dispite spending lakhs on the chicken farm. Unless your a millionaire and have world class facilties then owning 1000s could make you profit.
People in the villages will have their own fields, corn to feed the chicken but they would still need to purchase or build hen huts, pay for the chicken facilities, if a disease comes then spend money on medicine, animal waste is not a problem in village.
People in the city would need everything, from chicken huts, medicine, water facilities, food, warm place where the chicken can lay eggs, chicken wastage facilities as they make a big mess, also chickens at times need separate facilities as they fight among themselves and get injured, this would cost extra money.
