Many purchasers of the K-8 jet also known as JL-8 use the this jet plane for counterinsurgency. My question is why isn't Pakistan? This jet is cheap to make, it's light and compact therefore less fuel will be spent, also it's also good at eliminating ground targets, the combination is a cheap yet effective way of battling the Taliban. So much fuel is spent on just flying the F-16s and the Jf-17s we have doing that right now. So far I haven't heard of a single Pakistani owned k-8 involved in counter insurgency. PAF and the people of Pakistan could really use all the money they can get during current economic situation. Shouldn't we be using something that is especially made for such a problem. Sure F-16s and JF-17s will be needed when their speed is required, to travel to somewhere say far away from base. Another benefit the K-8 will have is that temporary shot runways could be made for the K-8 around areas of trouble, for quick assistance.
I could just go on and on about how practical this could be but you get the point, the only problem may be that they may not be fit with night vision equipment... but we have the capability to enable them so thats fine.
Anyway let me know what you think, also if it is being used but I just don't know it, and if you know why it isn't being used let me know why.
