Miscreants vandalised three idols in a Hindu temple at Pratabnagar area in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur on Sunday.

Local people suspected that miscreants swooped on the temple sometime at night after the devotees left it around 9:00pm Saturday and vandalised the three idols installed ahead of Durga Puja.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the worshipers went to the temple. They found three idols, including one of Durga, broken around 7:00am.

Being informed, police, representatives of upazila puja celebration committee and local leaders visited the spot.

Condemning the incident, Jhenigati upazila Puja Udjapon Parishad president Gopal Chandra Sen demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in the incident.

A case was field in this connection.

just shearing ......i have seen Durga puja celebration in Bangladesh, i was working in Chittagong.....they celebrate in quite larger scale ....not only durga puja ,sraswati puja also celebrate in almost each and every collage or university

see it is matter of time only ..........in 2002 after godhara kand no buddy was coming forward to celebrate durga puja in kumira village in Chittagong..Hindu was so scared (my factory was near kumira village), at that time local Muslim come forward and given full support to celebrate puja

you will be surprise Bangladeshi Muslim also give donation for puja celebration....

but resent year Bangladesh has changed a lot....................
