JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced that the party has decided to quit coalition government. The decision was taken in a high level meeting of the party. After this announcement, JUIs two more federal ministers would tender their resignations.
After this announcement, President Zardari and PM Gilani telephoned Maulana Fazlur Rehman but he refused to talk. President Zardaris spokesman Dr. Qayyum Soomro has reached the home of Maulana Fazal to convince him to take back his decision.
Talking to media, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that he responded positively to the reconciliation policy of the PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. He said that he asked the President to act upon the agreement as JUI had joined the government on the basis of such agreement. He said that the party had written many letters to the Prime Minister to take action against the people involved in the Hajj scandal but the government didnt take any action. And the government dismissed their minister Azam Swati who stood firm against the huge corruption in Hajj operations, he added. Fazal said that governments one-sided decision compelled them to quit the coalition government.
Govt wasnt expecting brisk response: Mushtaq
Senior Analyst Mushtaq Minhas while talking to Dunya News said that the government had taken the decision to create balance and the government was not expecting brisk response from Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Mushtaq said that it seems PPP has decided to do politics and quit reconciliation process. He said that JUI had no option but to join opposition. He said that after JUIs ouster, MQMs bargaining position would be strengthened.
JUI ouster not to affect Govt: Ayaz Amir
PML-N leader Ayaz Amir while talking to Dunya News said that JUI expulsion will not have great impact on the government as they were less in number. He said that politics has some manners and rules and regulations, but the two ministers started pelting stones on each other which was unethical.
JUI can return to government: Nasim Zahra
Director Current Affairs Nasim Zahra said that the government should adopt such a strategy in the next 48 hours so that JUI can return to the government. She said that Zulfikar Mirzas attitude towards MQM can force the party to think about their strategy to quit the coalition government as well. In this way, FATA members can also resign and the government would have no option but to beg PML-Q inclusion into the coalition.
