Passengers stranded at Istanbul airport sent to another city

ISTANBUL

More than 1,500 passengers, mostly from Algeria, Tunisia and Jordan, who have been stranded at Istanbul Airport, have been transferred to an emptied student dormitory in the northern province of Karabük.

Those passengers have been stuck at the airport for days after their countries closed airspace and flights were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A dormitory in the Karabük has been arranged for the passengers, who are not currently allowed to enter their countries.

They were escorted by the police to the buses which transferred them to the dormitory where they will stay until they can return home.

Most of those international travelers are reportedly from Algeria.

İGA, the operator of Istanbul Airport, said earlier this week in a statement that more than 1,000 Algerian nationals had been staying at the airport for several days because the Algerian government decided not to allow its citizens return back to their country due to the outbreak which already killed nearly 20 people there.

İGA noted that besides the Turkish Red Crescent, Turkish Airlines also tried to meet the needs of those people.

Turkey has been making efforts for a week to persuade the Algerian government to grant landing rights for the affected flights, İGA also said in the statement.

Angry Algerian citizens attacking Turkish police

The total number reached 1700. They are placed in quarantine dormitories.

This title is not about Turkey. The reason for the existence of any state is to protect its citizens. citizenship bond brings this right with it. In this way, it cannot leave them to their own fate, without any legal justification.

This is very irresponsible behavior because certainly they as foreigners won’t get medical treatment before turkish citizens

.
Instead embracing their citizens, they are publishing anti-Turkish propaganda in Arabic by showing angry Algerian people at the airport.

What is the reason behind your omission of Tunisia in the thread title?

Also by that logic, has Turkey failed its citizens in KSA? There are currently almost 100 coronavirus infected Turkish citizens in KSA. Why has Turkey not accepted their own citizens and helped them return?

There are 10.000's of foreign nationals (pilgrims) in KSA right now that have not returned. 2 of our 3 coronavirus casualties have been foreigners. Are all those numerous countries (we are talking about 50 + countries) failing their responsibilities? There are stranded nationals in foreign countries in the 1000's in each country. By no means unique to Turkey.

Is this news accurate @HannibalBarca ?

They don't need to publish anything.

Yes, they need to help their stranded citizens at the airport but some Khaleeji like yourself spreads it the other way to Arabic audience.

You need to help your almost 100 corona infected Turkish citizens that are staying in KSA long after having completed their Umrah. This is not the job of KSA either. Look inwards before complaining.

As I said, no particular Arab needs to do anything in this regard, the sentiments from Morocco to Oman are all pretty much similar for a very good reason. Every educated person in the Arab world (those 50% or so "lucky" to be affected) is well aware of this.

Ther are no Turkish citizens in KSA at the moment, all the Umrah pilgrims are back. Stop spreading lies, ther are more then 20k Pilgrims back in Turkey.

Because I did not want to make racial identification. Most of the 1700 people are Algerian citizens. As you know, the extraordinary law was declared in Algeria. Citizens abroad cannot returning right now. Almost all of those who quarantined in Turkey, transit pasengers because cannot flight anywhere. Apart from Algeria, there are 6 to 7 different nationalities in similiar conditions(almost all of them are Arab states).

Tunisia and Jordan citizens are two other major groups. I couldn't fit "Tunisia" in tittle because of character limitation. Therefore, I preferred one Magribi and other Levant state. It is very unnecessary to claim concealed thought in this matter or to try to trolling discussion. There is a global epidemic and no one can exclude himself from this process. We are all on the same ship. Let's avoid fighting in these difficult days at least. Thank you.

I heard that they were taken by KSA regime forcefully in which one pligrim tells in a record that they were taken against their will. It wasn't because Turkey does not accept those citizens of ours but because of stupid KSA authorities, they are held in quarantine against their will in KSA unlike the case of Algerians, and Jordanese in Turkey. As far as I know, they are all returned. Turkey provides A-400M for it's citizens evacuations, unlike kings, dictators, and sheikhs.

I am not happy with topic' distortion or such off-topic claims. But anyone who just has a little search, can see that Turkey sending private jets all countries, even to get only 10 citizens.

If there is still a Turkish citizen who has not yet come, including Italy and China, it is enough to call the consulate. There is no slightest prohibition on this matter. Only restriction is, when you come from abroad, must remain in quarantine for 14 days.

The differences between our state and Arabs are huge, can someone find that video about 7 citizens abroad brought back by a private jet? Please somebody show that troll....:-) I couldn't find it...

Are you sure?

Saudi Arabia says 72 Turkish nationals under coronavirus quarantine in Mecca

Abducted by aliens in fact just like the Afghan national that died in KSA recently.

Maybe you don't know this but there are 10.000's of Turkish nationals living in KSA. I am sure that Turkey has been telling its citizens to return to Turkey (like every country in the world) so this thread is nothing more than trolling and ironically only aimed at 3 Arab countries, as if there are not 1000's of nationals stuck in Turkey from all across the world.
Last 5300 people officially returned from KSA.

Aliens, troll says...

Also, KSA enforce Turkish citizens to sign that they will never return once they leave the kingdom, that's an information I received from Turkish people, who work in KSA. Turkey has to act, and make sure that no Turkish citizen is harmed by such action of KSA.

Why should I blindly trust Turkish media?
I did not post a media account but an authority, Directorate of Religious Affairs. The topic isn't about KSA but some Arabic countries, who refuse to take back their stranded citizens. Now, calm down, and leave the keyboard slowly.
