Su-34 has crappy radar for air to air. An air superiority fighter like F-15 or J-11 or Su-35 or J-20 would eat it alive for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert. That's why Su-34 in Syria always need Su-35 escort.

JH-7A combat range is 1,700 km. Tu-22M3 combat range is about 3,000 km. We are talking about combat range, not ferry range. Also, Tu-22M3 lacks in flight refueling which JH-7A has.

But air superiority fighter would eat it alive. No sane Russian uses Su-34 as a fighter. Even in Syria Su-34 bombers are always escorted by Su-35 fighters when they take off.

SAMs aren't accurate at very long ranges. At most 100 to 200 km. Plus they can be jammed by EW planes like Chinese navy's Y-8 EW variant.
