May be if F-22 pilot is sleeping in auto pilot mode with no armaments attached with aircraft.

. .
I hope you are joking!

USA Raptor is state of the art technology.

JF-17 is made by Pakistan and China. JF-17 does not stand a chance against a USA f-22.

.
The title and what in the news item does not match so again typical misinformation even though it clearly states yl series against f22 and nothing pf the sort about klj 7a as clearly as the title

.
It is possible to defeat stealth for sure; but i am skeptical of the claims given the frequency range this class of radar operates in.

The problem is that BVR combat is still not very certain.
The probability of a hit, falls very fast on BVR scale.
So even if an enemy boggy is detected early enough, the missile has to do the job.
This is the missing link !

Sure why not anything is possible once the bird is visible just like Infinity Guantlet

The research institute has been promoting a series of new-generation radar capable of detecting stealth aircraft such as the US F-22 Raptor

I have read the article 3 times now. May be I am little sleepy wit post sehri syndrome but can't find in the article the claim that Block 3 could shoot down a Raptor. Only mention of the F-22 is above line.
Sensational headline nothing else and I am surprised that esteem members have started answering?
And btw, F-22 is a plane made by humans and fly by humans. It is not an alien thing that is invincible

After reading the article, IMHO, the title must read as "JF-17 Thunder Block 3 Will be Able to Detect and F-22 with the Help of New Ground-Based Radars." I have omitted shotdown part because that is totally subjective here. There will be dozens of variables which will determine final outcome even if somehow these new Chinese ground-based radars are able to detect F-22.

Nonsense! :hitwall:
Why?

How will ground radar be mounted on light and medium fighters. Thats what it says in the article.

It's incredible to read the comments here. The Chinese admit that used to have rubbish radars and always played catch up with the West. It was inconceivable that China would have stealth technology yet they have 2 stealth fighters. Since time began measure in this case stealth and counter measures in this case stealth detecting radars have been the game on battle fields. Why is it that we still think only the white man can produce cutting edge state of the art t3chnology. We still seem to have the enslaved mentality

The research institute has been promoting a series of new-generation radar capable of detecting stealth aircraft such as the US F-22 Raptor.

These new radar types, such as the YLC-8B, SLC-7 and SLC-12, integrate the traditional detection method of mechanical scanning with two-dimensional active phased array technology, so they are able to handle not only stealth fighter jets but also unmanned aircraft, and even cruise or ballistic missiles, according to the institute.

That's what they are talking about... these are ground based and may b in future can be put on air craft . and pak must get those radars and missiles that could b combined with these to up date the ground radars

JF17 THUNDER BLOCK3 WILL BE ABLE TO DETECT AND SHOOT DOWN F22 RAPTOR, CHINA CLAIM

JF17 Thunder block3 will be able to detect and shoot down F22 raptor, China claim. The JF 17 is considered as back bone of PAF, Source of the jf 17 thunder news is given below in the description.

China will upgrade Pakistan Air Force JF-17 fighter jets with a world-class radar system that will substantially improve the combat capability of the aircraft, a top Chinese radar researcher said.

Hu Mingchun, head of the Nanjing Research Institute of Electronics Technology in Jiangsu province, said the KLJ-7A active phased array radar will give the JF-17 many advantages in an aerial combat.

"Our product will tremendously extend the fighter jet's detection range, giving it a much longer sight that will help it detect the enemy's aircraft before they do, and this is very important because in real combat if you see first, you fire first," he said. "The radar is capable of tracking dozens of targets and engaging several of them simultaneously. It also has a good jamming-resistant capacity that keeps the plane away from enemy's electronic interference."

The KLJ-7A radar can be mounted on light-or medium-weight fighter jets. It is one of the best of its kind in the world in terms of technology and capability, Hu said.

Nanjing Research Institute of Electronics Technology, part of the State-owned defense giant China Electronics Technology Group Corp, is the country's largest and strongest developer of military radar. Its products have been sold to more than 20 nations in Africa and Asia.

The JF-17, known as the FC-1 in China, is a lightweight, multirole fighter jet codeveloped by Aviation Industry Corp of China and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

The plane is widely deployed by the Pakistan Air Force and some reportedly have been purchased by the Myanmar Air Force.

Meanwhile China and Pakistan have spared no effort to find new buyers.

Wu Peixin, an aviation industry analyst in Beijing, said the upgrade with a type of cutting-edge radar will undoubtedly enhance the JF-17/FC-1's appeal to potential buyers from developing nations.

"The KLJ-7A will enable JF-17 and its variants to have stronger fighting capability at a reasonable cost, allowing the aircraft to compete with or confront expensive Western or Russian jets," he said.

Hu suggested that China should encourage and give more support to the efforts of Chinese arms makers to export because by doing so the country's defense technologies and products will have more opportunities to display their advantages to buyers and to verify designs and capabilities for further improvements.

All of them can be mounted on vehicles, it said.

Hu said the institute not only sells its radar but also provides air-defense solution packages to clients and helps them build their own research and development capabilities.

"In the past, our radar was backward so we had to follow others' rules in both the market and the battlefield. Now we have begun to turn into a leading player in this sphere. Therefore, we are becoming a rule maker and make others follow our rules," Hu said.

Yes will be able to detect only when F22, will open its weapon bay for firing on thunder ... Kindly dont do fan boy stuff ... Detection is not the issue but detection at what range is the issue ... If you can detect F22 at a range of 20 kms whereas F22 can see you at 100 kms then suerly Thunder will be destroyed even before knowing who struck ...

The only way to fight stealth is a network of ground plus air sensors capable of extreme data fusion ... China and US have some leads in the area but nothing in production is yet available ... Furthermorem people need to understand such a system cannot work on stand alone basis you need multiple detection units at multiple locations ...

The original title of the new is "Pakistan fighter jets to get radar upgrade".
It didn't mention that KLJ-7A was used to detect F-222.

So f22 is 100 percent invisible to radar from every angle and will become visible only with weapons bad doors open. When they are closed again it will be invisible.. ...oh dear

I hope you are joking!

Yet our f6 was able to take out an f14 during exercises. Yes f22 is excellent and they have spared no expense. But the titanic was also unsinkable. The third reich was to rule for a 1000 years and India is a super power and America claimed victory in Iraq Afghanistan Vietnam and I could go on all day. The Brits also tracked b2 at Farnborough. So is it that the yellow man can't do what a white man can syndrome here
