Likewise no Al-Khalid tank had been built for few years now. So idle is HMC taxila that the organization can't sustain itself anymore

Hi,

This for the private industry----and not for military. Military runs and manages its own projects and sales.

What has happened with the Mushak---is going to happen with the JF 17. When the orders will start coming---they will be pouring in.

As super Masshak is only produced by the kamra---it would be tough---they would need a lots of investment----but for the JF 17---chengdu would love it.

I remember there was a time---we gave some Musshak aircraft with our compliments to a middle eastern country for free ( someone correct me on that ).

Did ACM Tahor Rafique Butt had a reason for no sale of JF17---because it was not ready or just simply he did not want to sell it.

And again I would say---that policy would not have come from the Air Chief---the policy would have been dictated by the state what needs to be done.

I can only surmise that iit was on account of the fear that :-
A. The product had not matured sufficiently. It now has and therefore the interest.
B. With Local demand from PAF wewould not have had the capacity to take on orders. Now that these orders are coming in we can pour the profits into our own R&D(whatever that means in local context )and infrastructure build up.
One of the main problems with Pakistan has been that people dont concentrate on infrastructure build up. On of the good things that came out of the Augusta 90B deal was the CAD equipment which was subsequently used in manufacturing of the JFT. Now they are looking into getting 3D printing machiines which would be another helpful thing. Members may also remember that POF was at one time in dre need for 250 million RS for infrastructure modernisation and rejoligging t9 have increased production.
The other issue with armaments industry is the periodic nature of the work load. To circumvent that there needs to be a need for dual use technology to tap into local market. Without this we run the risk of getting our profits dwindling as the orders die down.

@MastanKhan
Thanks a lot for the comments and insight Sir!, really appreciate it as it keeps my hopes high. Definitely one can present a product for sale when he/she is dead sure of performance in competitive environment, a single faulty deal may result in the cancellation of many others...But since we have the potential (and are currently achieving satisfactorily) to secure a place in global defense exports, one gets a bit restless on the way things move or situation develops

regards,

Dont count your chicken till they are hatched. As Iqbal said.
Sitaaron say aagay jehan aur bhi hain.
There are a lot of hurdles to cross before we make a place for ourselvesin the defence industry as the business is very cut throat and there are many extrinsic factors in addition to merit of the product.
