Rcs of mki is more than 4 square meter. with Aesa radar JF-17 will surely detect MKI first, but later one is very agile thats why one or two PL-15 will not be enough to kill mki. 4 PL-15 is the minimum requirement to make thunder a real threat for mki.

Actually I have learned how its not very hard to defeat BVR missiles fired at longer ranges (after watching non-JF-17 videos as well) and given how few missiles it does carry, having a gun now makes all the more sense.
