JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Btw the question that started above discussion that why is there no video of jf going super Sonic

I want to ask is there any video of pakistani f 16 going super Sonic ?

Or f 16 has the same fatigue problem?

Hi,

The F16 has another problem---. The glass canopy starts to flex.

Most definitely agreed. But i know the chinese too well; they can cut corners on alloys as well. Problem is who is to validate the alloys or even the stress tests?

The classical case of good enough in such machines is defnitely not good enough.

Agreed,
and this may happen, (unlikely through).

JF-17 was a export oriented model for Chendgu, and they would do everything possible to ensure it's functionality.
PAF has enough experience in maybe not designing but maintaining aircraft; the MRO does perform substantial testing before go ahead.

All in all, the QA could be an issue, however the more we debate, the less likely it becomes.

They do take into account critical and unlikely events. A 747 overspeed incident put enough G’s on the airframe that most of its rivets were bent but the aircraft made it back.. only to be written off because it was unflyable.

However, as a structural engineer you are also aware of why aircraft have “no step” on them. Everything from a F-16 to a A380 - that is because aerodynamic loads are spread out over the wing, but point loads like say a person’s foot.

Max take of weight ofAirbus A320 is 78,000 kg. Wing area is 122 m2. It makes specific pressure of 640 kg per m2 or 6 kg per dm2 .

Typical human has 80 kg , one sole of foot area is cca 2.5 dm2. It makes spec pressure of 32 kg per dm2 !!! Five times more!

Seriously ... I mean ... really ...
Have you ever even seen an airplane in detail ?

The closest your analogy lands is if someone was calculating wing loading, and even that is done in different dimensions.

That Indian news item, about 60% JF-17s grounded, mentioned fighters in one of the airbases, so it could be just one squadron , that means less than 10 grounded aircraft. Why so serious u guyz???

Indian Media --- 60% vimanu grounded hein

Indian news items also reported that Jf17 has issues with, cracks in the air frame, the 23mm gun not working (even tho its the same one on their jets) and whole bunch of other crap. Its a lie.

A lie to fool themselves into believing they are a military superpower

You have to learn to filter the noise from the actual issues. Their media is like an village transvestite idiot on steriods lamenting about anything.

The core issue about stress fractures is definitely there.

Stress fractures and metal fatigue is a natural process. It happens in every fighter jet

Why don’t you enlighten us then instead of passing snide comments?
Or is it the same result as before of ad hominem attacks and rants?

Your remarks don't merit a response,
did you go back and check the mistake you made ?

Address your insecurities, it only makes you look a bit too young.

Not me, what the hacked documents indians get their hands on 2 years ago as its a 2 year old news. Dumb Arses at PAC or Government still didnt fix their networks and got hacked once again in 2021 and 2022

Stop projecting and wasting everyone’s time here

Yes - that is without saying but what we are trying to state is blk1 - yes that could be expected; however critical areas should have been comprehensively tested not only during the prototype phase but after it was released into a full production cycle. Always remember Kaizen principle.
