JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

. . .
Hmm, what are they made of ?

Heavy naval steel or aluminum. These things weigh a ton (not literally, but it takes a couple large men to lift one).

And do they sink to bottom ?

Yes. They're designed to safely protect ordinance, let it sink, then detonate an on-board charge to safely dispose of the munition or if they don't have a disposal charge, let the tampered with/compromised ordinance safely detonate a distance from the ship.

What are these seats for ? Is this a lifeboat ?

Not a lifeboat, more of a special operations fast craft or police interdiction vessel. Those aren't seats per say. You can sit in them, it's just they aren't very comfortable. I can tell you that from experience. More often then not we used to to store our gear while we stood.

Most often a mother ship would send out a RHIB to investigate something.

They're largely used for policing duties. Running down drug runners or smugglers, conduction vessel visitations, that kind of thing.

Thanks, you indeed are a well informed member, hoping to learn more in time.

Btw, you said “Experience”, were in the marines or Navy ?

Yar WTF is wronf with everyone here ? Why every sane thread is converted into a sectarian battleground ? PNS Yarmook is a very strong name, they should have saved this name for a destroyer. Nonetheless, the name is perfect and there is nothing “arabic” in it, coz that is part of our collective history. Don’t forget, we are no local subcontinent’s, we are the ideological children of Muhammad Bin Qasim, his history is our history.

Whose?? Bilawal's. Sorry could not resist.
A
OEM has gone bankrupt and chief designer along with those who worked on this master piece after destroying all of Blueprints have comitted suicide due to sheer amount of shame they felt after witnessing performance of this model.I am sorry to inform you that, you are only buyer of this failed product and you don't enjoy any OEM support.

@Dubious @The Eagle Dear mods, sorry for the 911 again but the last 3 pages require most of the posts to be deleted as well as taken care off !! The whole thread has been destroyed thanks to this BS

Offenders: If Mod(s) really have to clean all the waste like this; you aren't going out without any fraction. This should be the reminder for all the offenders. The one who instigates or the one who feeds a troll, are partner in violation. If you cant discuss the topic rather gets into worst debate; better not to say a single word in first place and read to get educated.

Hi Bro,

I at no time admonish any of them and respect them, I just stated the best times were the 1st four for the Muslims per MastanKhan’s question. Maybe I should have better phrased it or be more clear.

Yes, that was a failure of Zia and for not retaking it back. However, the US is in Afghan and still fighting and Taliban still holding vast amounts of land after 15+ years they aren’t using any stingers or kornets etc. the Soviets would have left eventually they were going broke back home.

As for the balance of power my agreement is with you I stated that approx two months ago as well. But the USSR were stubborn and wouldn’t listen either in leaving Afghan.

Please study Creative Chaos Theory and juxtapose Afghan predicament accordingly. US is doing exactly what Pakistan was supposed to do back in 80's. We must have control the winning of Mujahideen. Making CIA's victory as slow as possible. It is not US government who want to be there in Afghanistan, It is Corporate America and MIC that wants this war to continue till last day of earth as their profiteering is directly related to this conflict. They are same people who time and again derail this process giving new imputes to Washington's power echelons to allow US military and private contractors to continue this war. Talibans are there because CIA/MIC doesn't want them to be eliminated completely. Spy world is extremely dirty one.

Having said all this, I concur your original point that our real failure has been inability of the state in nurturing a strategic thinking culture across the society. We used too much time on useless bravados which led us nowhere!

Coming back to JF-17 Vs. F-16 ... I think JF-17 must our priority despite its shortcomings vis-a-vis F-16. Thunder will be a killer machine once Block-4 hit the production in late next decade. (I say Block-4 because I believe after Block-3, only thing needs a real upgrade will be its power plant and I hope in Block-4 that will be the key feature along with some other upgrades of course). Strategically, this Thunder project is more critical for us than our nuclear program as it has redefined or is redefining conventional deterrence against a much superior enemy. Strategic deterrence will comes into play only once conventional one failed. In Feb 2019, Indians were hoping they will achieve that but PAF foiled it. They tried through sea, PN foiled that one too. Pakistan army was ready to unleash response to any Indian ballistic missile misadventure. PAF and PN both are in process to get next gen hardware means our conventional deterrence will have a new threshold and if PAF can manage to produce enough Block-3 along with adequate number of force multiplier (AEW, AWACS, EW, Refuelers etc.) to raise few squadron dedicated to support our strike corps, the entire complexion of balance of power in the region will change for now India has upper hand in conventional warfare but Pakistani forces have proven that the worst period has gone pass as far as military parity in terms of quality is concerned thanks to close cooperation with China and Turkey. US has offered us many things if we somehow come out of what they call is a Chinese bloc, but it looks like Pak mil establishment has learned its lessons during the last 70 years and now is taking strategically correct steps!

You miss the point I was making about hitting the enemy hard when their is opportune time.

I don't claim to be an expert but I've spent enough time studying military theories to have a good enough opinion to stand on.

In the 1st Crusade, Jerusalem, was captured by the Crusaders establishing the Christian Levant. The 2nd Crusade, Saladin comes along and retakes Jerusalem. The 3rd Crusade resulted in the Ramla Agreement to keep the status quo as is in the region for some time -- Saladin kept Jerusalem, however, the main parts - Coastal Cities - where kept by the Crusaders and they also captured the City of Acre which gives direct landing platform (beachhead) into the area, among other territories that give inland access to Muslim lands. Richard leaves the region to consolidate power back home.

Now this is where the fun part starts and why I say Saladin and a lot of Muslim Military leaders are failures. So much resource was spend in recapturing and defending Jerusalem which is strategically useless, and makes it difficult to defend and easily susceptible to being cut off from outside supplies. This allowed Richard to cut of supplies from Egypt and Syria to Saladin forces who was forced to retreat into the walls of Jerusalem allowing the Crusades to establish firm control. Rather than focusing their military strategy to retake the coastal cities Antioch, Tyre, Acre and Jaffa to cut off Crusader forces they settle for Jerusalem while leaving the Key's in the hands of the Crusaders who had enough time in few years to regroup and resupply themselves with weapons and men into the region. Coming back to Saladin rather than building a Navy as the head of united Egypt & Syria he just sat around doing nothing to put it plainly, while Christian forces were re arming and using Cyprus to amass their army for the 4th Crusade. Read Page 12 on-wards: (https://deremilitari.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/gillingham2.pdf)

Saladin and other military leaders failure in securing the home front leads to further losses of life, money and blood in the 5th, 6th and 7th Crusades. You have to look no further than Germany, WWII Normandy, once the beach head was established Allied Forces were dropping supplies and consolidating and started making advances, not going to go into deep history on this, but you get my point.

Saladin took Jaffa (from land route; but remember he fails to build a navy during the Ramla Agreement Period which could've helped him), Richard regroups and by sea launches a naval raid and was successful in retaking it, look at the map and see how vital this is -- he had Christian soldiers captured but the fool fails to kill'em off. Richard frees them, and has his army add more men and Saladin is forced to surrender.

In the 2nd and 3rd Crusade we lose more territory to them to hold one useless city.

Below is what Salandin Chronicler said after the 3rd Crusade and he couldn't think it through what to do next and what to plan next to fix his error:

I fear to make peace, not knowing what may become of me. Our enemy will grow strong, now that they have retained these lands. They will come forth to recover the rest of their lands and you will see every one of them ensconced on his hill-top,' meaning in his castle, 'having announced, "I shall stay put" and the Muslims will be ruined.' These were his words and it came about as he said.

We lost Jerusalem for few years during the 6th Crusade or so -- but Jerusalem shouldn't have been the focal point.

Our Generals never thought outside the box and I blame the failure of our education institutions to be quite honest where innovative ideas are suppressed and if a Junior Officer can offer a better plan he's shot down. The readings I've done so far of Officers in that era is they acted more Western as they were the last few classes thought by the British and they kept that going with the flow. Gen Zia came and put a stop to it hence you saw the success of the Afghan-USSR War, not some stinger missiles that turned the tide as Americans often tout to their useless population and the world. Wife swapping was very common in that era -- and sadly it continues even till this day underground. You have Generals who have never heard of Carl Von Clausewitz -- the whole lot is useless to be quite honest.

Hi

Conquering Jerusalem was an emotional / religious decision.

This is a good strategy, to buy a ship and then retrofit it locally. This gives boost to local weapons manufacturers and gain valuable experience. It also allows for greater independence and customization in terms of roles and weapons.
