JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

e

engine looks much different than the one being used look at its petals more slim and more in numbers than in jf blk 1-2
There has been news of some tweeking of the engine but not an engine change as such. A new engine is unlikely to come on this quickly as both RD93MA and WS 13 are not ready.

During debrief sessions we furnish all possible information. I had detail sketches but nothing now with me.

There are two types of guide vanes, static and variable.
The first row is mostly static guide vanes,
which may be followed by variable rows.
and then the last row is static again, before compressed air goes in the combustion tubes.
The function of variable guide vanes, is primarily to stop the compressor blades from stalling
as well as to provide throttle control ( to an extent )
The picture you are showing is not of guide vanes.

@messiach
Can you arrange a RD93 picture with the ring actuators,
that will kill the point.
I have not seen one up close.

No problem. We all learn.

Hi,

The problem with these ' enthusiaistic ' is that they don't want to learn---.

To learn---you have to ASK---to ask---is " beneath " many---.

Look at sinnerman18 post. He has put it in simple terms.

Wrong. The following has nothing to do with 'throttle input'.

Here have a look at this,
This blade probably suffered heat damaged, but most probably corrosion

See the holes in the leading edge,

the materials, even with the ceramic coatings cannot withstands the temperature on their own.
and they are given help in keeping it cool

So the prospects of collaboration on TFX IS Zero. It makes sense to collaborate with a nation which has some experience in the feneration rather than Turkey much as we love it.

TFX could be future replacement of F-16 after 2028.

It will be one project that fulfills PAF requirements and if they are bringing out a protoype in 2022-23 with production in 2025 onwards I doubt they will buy another plane. The platform has to come before their own production. Perhaps the deal with the Chinese is to buy a few uniits off the shelf in exchange for help with local setup. This is my thought process which may or may not be right. So lets wait and see.

Comparison of the two JF-17B prototypes 01 and 02

Although there seems to be no structurally significant change othr than the radome but to me, just the taller Antenna on the spine and on the chin seems thicker and less swept back, probably indicating a different or improved version in use.
