Use of composites has been kept low....and .

I believe to some extent, more and more composites will be used, and by the time they build the 250th jet, it will be a different animal.

Ultra Violet.

I am sure when a missile is launched and motor ignites, it burn bright and hot. I would like to think there is a lot of UV energy released. It is interesting and will look into it further.

Depends on need..
Composites arent a magic bullet.. but they are effective at reducing construction costs int the long run..and lighter than the equivalent alloy construction.
So while the economy of scale tips in the balance of the JF-17 today.. lets say vis-a-vis the LCA.. ten years down the line.. the LCA will be a more cost effective aircraft since it will need less redesign compared to the JF when the composites are introduced into the JF.
From what Ive heard on the grapevine.. Composites are being restricted to the areas taking the most stress..
the wings.. and the Elevators..
With the LERX coming up next.

Salam and Hi to everyone,

I just spotted 4 JF17s flying over Peshawar and then landed at Peshawar Airbase. I took these pictures with my DSLR but due to the hight of Aircrafts and distance I was at, I couldn't zoom it more.

These are converted images from HD to normal, just to save a bit of space and heck during the upload. Enjoy

PS: We need closeup pics of these aircaft station at Peshawar Airbase. I'll try my level best to find a source and get into the airbase and touch the beauty, I can't take the sanps as it's not allowed inside the airbase, but I believe Taimi will be able to sneak into. Where's TaimiKhan?

are those fuel tanks in the first pic????.....they must be on a long mission then.

. . . . .
AstanoshKhan where part of Peshawar is this looks close to Air Base, looks closer to airport.

.
no weapons - just ferry from kamra to peshawar their home base!

Sir,

If I'm able to remind, March was the month given for these ACs to be dispatched to Peshawar Aribase, now the only thing I can't recall is if it was March 2010, or March 2011?

Yes Luftwaffe, I live about 4Km away from the airbase/airport, it's very easy for us to spot these ACs. I can't go near the spot where you can see the runway which is a good position for taking snaps, but again I don't want to get into trouble.

These are the aircrafts from newly built 2 full strength squadrons being built up at peshawar. They are to be inducted in PAf in march or April. The total no will go to 42 and next bach will be with western avionics

I agree that in the long term, it pays to “get it right first time”, i.e. be able to use composites from the start. However, time and money being limited and risk management (technical) going with fewer or no composites, and then learn and improve gradually is not a bad strategy.

I also can see why they would what to substitute high stress areas with composites first. These high stress areas will have larger therefore heavier structural members. By replacing a few of these you save a lot of weight and some maintenance costs as these member tend to need more hours during maintenance and replacement. Composites will mean they are lighter and require less replacement intervals.

Concerning UV MAWS, here is an good website of a company selling the systems:

SBUV: Missile/ Rocket Approach Warning Sensor

SBUV: RPG Rocket Propelled Grenade Approach Warning Sensor

... ... sensor detects the UV radiation of the approaching missile (rocket/ missile plume detection sensor) ... ... remote sensing technology allows unequivocal detection of potential threats with very low clutter providing excellent-false alarm-rate ... ... Strong UV signal at the launch moments ... ... UV plume is sufficiantly strong during rocket flight ... ... Very strong UV emission caused by rocket hit

I will add the images later when I get home. Our company firewal will not let me do the images.
