^colour scheme depends on what 'roles' the JF-17 will be involved in:

CAS role = camouflage scheme.
AD role = natural 'shiny silver' or camouflage top / sky blue underbelly scheme.
naval role = as CAS.

a/c are not given color scheme's for 'fun's' sake!

Pakistan's first JF-17 squadron inducted into air force

The first squadron of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex/Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (PAC/CAC) JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft was formally inducted into the Pakistan Air Force during a ceremony on 18 February.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman accepted the aircraft on behalf of the air force. Development of the JF-17 has been undertaken under a joint Sino-Pakistani venture for a lightweight multirole combat aircraft powered by a single engine: the Klimov RD-93 (a derivative of the RD-33).

Known as Fighter China-1 (FC-1) in China, the first domestically produced Thunder was handed over to the Pakistan Air Force on 24 November 2009. The aircraft was built by the state-run PAC, based in Makra, north of Islamabad, in collaboration with the China Aviation Technology Import-Export Corporation (CATIC).

Pakistan plans to buy up to 250 JF-17s, making it the most numerous type to be inducted into the air force. It is estimated that the programme will cost approximately USD5 billion (USD20 million per aircraft).[/B]

Pakistan is hoping to reduce the number of combat aircraft that it operates, which include more than a dozen types of Dassault Mirage, some of which are more than four decades old. It also intends to reduce its fighter inventory to three main types: the CAC J-10 (to be designated FC-20 in PAF service), the JF-17s and the Lockheed Martin F-16.

So it means that Mirage ROSE and F-7PG will also be grounded be 2015........and we would be having all 4th and 4.5th gener...

If this happens the effort would be great.

Not compulsorily, it would be a mix of aircraft which would be retired by 2015. As by 2015 with avg 25-30 aircraft delivered per year, we would reach the 150 JF-17s mark. F-7PGs and the ROSE upgraded Mirages would definitely be in the air till then and beyond also for some years.

But after 2015, as JF-17s get inducted and FC-20s start to come into service, we will see gradual retirement of the F-7PGs and the ROSE Mirages.

Yeah, A-5s, old F-7Ps & old Mirages would be gone by then.

PAF have also signed a deal with Chian for 50 JF17 planes that will be made there in china.. we have already received about 8-10 planes form them.
as i have already discussed that incresing the production lines for JF17 at PAC Kamra is underway and when done PAF will get 3 planes ever second month making the count as 18 planes per year from one asembly line whereas PAF is bound to dedicate atleast two line to this project so you can count the total number of planes per year to be somewhere around 30, starting from 2010-2011 onwarrds when both lines will be fully functional!!

Would love to see the link to this new 50 aircraft deal with China.
Becoz as far as i know, we had received 8 JF-17s, when the deal for 42 JF-17s was done last year in March i believe, so in those 42 Jf-17s contracted, we have so far received 6, making 14 of them in the first Sqd raised, as 8 were already there, 6 added more which got manufactured in pakistan and china both.

The new batch of next 50 or 100 JF-17s would only be ordered after the rumored French avionics deal is signed, as PAF has to be sure if we are gonna get the French avionics or not, before they order mor JF-17s.

What i perceive and what it looks to be happening is, PAF would like to have 50 JF-17s as per the initial batch to be in PAF colors by the end of 2011. By this year end, 14 already in the air, it seems the year end figure would reach 25 or so, and same number of aircraft next year, thus first 50 batch completed.

If the french deal is signed by this year, hopefully by next year, we will see the arrival of the french avionics to Pakistan. And the next batch of JF-17s would be ordered too by that time.

So if we get 50 JF-17s by 2011, it leaves 4 years to the target year of 2015 to have another 100 JF-17s to make the total 150, making on avg 25 JF-17s each year, the target of 150 will be reached by 2015.

To me this is the only realistic approach that i see.

As inducting 25 aircraft each year is a very tough and hard target, as per my understanding of how aircraft and pilots and ground crew gets inducted. And the 25 JF-17s would be the mutual ones, meaning ones coming from China and the ones being manufactured in Pakistan.

Anyhow, plz do show the link which says 50 JF-17s have been ordered, as the last order was for 42 JF-17s.
