JF-17 On The Path of F-16 Fighting Falcon

You need to look at the prices. The JF-17 costs something in the range of $15-20 million. The F-16 A/B costs $25M and the JF-17 is better. later versions of the F-16 costs over $30M (Iraqi Army bought 3 F-16 for $173M each) and are better than the JF-17 (although JF-17 has a better performance).

F-16 might be popular among developed countries but JF-17 is going to be popular among developing and under-developed countries.
F-16s cost $60+ million a piece.

JF-17 has DSI. F-16 doesn't. They don't even belong to the same technology era. One is a 1970s plane. The other is an early 2000s plane.

Son,

That technology is more advanced than the 2000 technology of he JF 17. F16 is the aircraft that sets standards of performance and utility that other aircraft are judged against---.

world politics and influence will restrict the sales of JFT to 3rd world countries, countries where china has an increasing influence and possibly muslim countries (other than the ME). we have to be 'realistic'.

then there is the engine issue.....

Although like me, everyone wants to see PAF with:
150 JF-17s
150 F-16s Block-15 MLU-3
18-50 F-16s Block-52

Affordability, ease of maintenance and performance are the main characteristics of the JF-17
You should put China in your equation and you'll get a positive answer to your inquiries.
So the potential is still huge, from Africa to Asia to South America, not talking about Brazil? But Argentina and potentially others.
The fleets of most developing nations are not composed of F-5s alone, I mentioner in the category of F-5, meaning the MIGs too.
The 4000 replacements I have mentioned are the global estimates, so even if we take out let's say 1500 out that belong to somehow richer countries who can afford other more expensive planes, the potential is still for 2500 replacements, if we add 400 for China, that makes it a total of almost 3000 replacements that can be filled by the JF-17 in time. if orders start pouring in, China will certainly invest in production facilities and thus enhance the production capacity .
4000 aircrafts.
Good joke. Only 2200 F-5's were ever built. Most operated by countries like US/Turkey/Korea/Taiwan etc meaning countries who have money and can buy modern aircraft. Adding MiG's doesn't give much either. Only poor countries, countries whose name you'd have to search for in an atlas would buy JF-17. China is not going to buy JF-17 either. Only poor countries who can't buy anything else (ala Gripen) would invest in this plane that too in meager quantities like 10-12.

Pak_China can covert F-5, F-6, F-7 and A-5C, J-8s and Mirages into Drones like Cruise missiles.

F16 was an incredible success story because it was awesome capability and state of the art and USA massive aero industry could support the buyer. With everything in amazing delivery time and reliability.

China would do well to sell 10% of what general dynamics sold in next decade.

Ask your self how many countries are buying chinease latest fighters ie j10 and jf17

Now see the order books for USA coming up

The chinease will not throw serious money into thunder. They will invest in their other projects like j10 and j31.

That means Pakistan had to throw serious money into thunder to make it contemporary and relevant and order big nos

Just 44 planes needs to be three hundred and invest.ent has to billions. Dollars.

Only then will it look and feel like the f16 fighting falcon project.

The tragedy is people here have no idea as what the F-16 in general and Block-52 in particular incorporate.
F-16 which has been around for some 40 years and is a tried tested platform with an unmatched battle record.
The Block-52 represent cutting edge technology, even the USAF officials have acknowledged the package PAF had installed in it's Block-52 fleet, any wonder the Americans jealously protect this technology.
JF-17 is a relatively new and promising bird, built around PAF's requirements and in due course will become a very potent weapon system.

What windjammer is saying the f16/52 is the the best fighter in paf arsenal and far superior to the current thunders.

But with paf relying on more thunders. The next batch have to be better thank first batch.

Block ,52,is the best in our region maybe even better than mki

Hi,

It will be close to 3 - 5 years at least when the first delivery of JF17's to foreign order if any. Whereas the PAF is looking at need, utility and necessity---other nations may look at show, pomp and glitter---the VOW factor---.

If PAF seriously wants to sell this aircraft---they need to fly this aircraft with BVR missiles on the wings---for the vanity factor.

China is not going to sell the J10 to anyone other than Pakistan at this time----because of the production and security factor. Plus---with all the issues arising in south asia-----it needs to have all the aircraft on the production line for its air force.

Neiher does china nor does pakistan has any aircraft to spare for any supposed foreign orders at this time.

We are not selling any i phones over here to get gratification out of what is sold.
