Featured JF-17 Emerged As The Star of Swift Retort

Some new revelations have emerged regarding PAF operation Swift Retort.
Albeit, both the kills on 27th February 2019 were achieved by the F-16s engaged in fighter sweep mission but the real star of the whole operation turned out to be the JF-17 Thunder in both the ground strikes and fighter sweep activities.
Initially the Thunders strike package went in with it's own escort and delivered it's cargo by engaging Indian ground targets. The F-16s remained in Pakistani air space and zapped the SU-30 that was vectored towards the strike package. However what transpired after that was the highlight of the battle when another formation of SU-30s and Mirage-2000s tried to engage the JF-17 formation which was part of the escort, it was a classic engagement as the Thunders repeatedly broke the lock and the IAF formation found itself cornered by being locked by Thunders that were on fighter sweep mission. This was a classic ambush engagement that despite several attempts the IAF pilots were unable to break the lock and instead asked Indian ground defences to engage the PAF jets who in process shot down their own helicopter which in fact was sent out on SAR mission for downed SU-30 pilots.

I can say the same and not that coming from one source. Even though, IAF been upgrading and knows PAF level after such a skirmish as they are planning to come with more force, PAF did one of the tricks and there are 99 more. Thunder in-fact did a lot and more than expected.

It was like better than the purpose it was supposed to do. I second your account on this. Almost every account acknowledges. Reminds me about the smiley face of some Chinese Officials and then a source that made some remarks about Thunder post 27th Feb, 2019. Even we have CAS on record and no force will bet on something with any shortcoming.

Guys,

I have seen Indians comparing Rafale with JF-17-IIIs and if Rafale has an edge. It was a moment of gratitude and I thanked Allah that Pakistan's enemy despite being richer and bigger is helpless but to buy Rafale in limited numbers spending billions, while Pakistan produces its matching aircraft at home, cheaper and as many as it wants - Alhamdolillah.

No such thing happened.
Both of the two Mirage 2000s and the two Su-30s were pulled back as they were outnumbered 6:1 (24 vs 4) and new reinforcements were being sent from Punjab, Haryana and even Rajasthan.

.
There was much heated debate within PAF after this as there were seven IAF aircraft that were sitting ducks....but the higher ups didn't give clearance.....shooting them all would have had same effect as that by Rafiqui and Bhati did on the opening engagement of 1965 war.....at least some of IAF fleet would have been grounded.

It will remain in the heart of decision makers on that day or unless, told someday. However, victorious we emerged on that day with blessing of ALLAH, I will still have a room to give it to the hierarchy for making such decision.

Haseeb Sahib holds a lot to his chest.

It was war, not a beauty contest. Decisions have to be made very quickly.

Pakistan was attacked a day earlier and Pakistan swiftly retaliated, punishing the enemy into submission, unable to engage with the PAF thereafter until Rafales arrival.

Decisions have to be made on the ground before the mission, Pilots should be briefed
before and nor whilst in the air. If you waste time in the air then IAF could shoot down Pak
jets. PAF should of atleast got a few kills for the JF17 thunder.

.
Witness insecurity of our enemies.

Rafale+Meteor+Spectra :disagree:

Should it be

Rafale+Meteor+Spectra+French Pilots? :azn:

I will leave the post to give it to you for that day because IAF was at the receiving end, of everything. The Bingo, Radar issue on Mirage-2000s & then Abhinandan totally blinded. Even these IAF accounts doesn't match your intended excuse of 6:1 (24 vs 4). May be all of them lied regarding fuel, radar & blindness to prove you wrong.

Off you go my friend.

If you had a brain you would be dangerous.....the IAF was expecting retaliation....most of PAF packages were in Pakistan air space but according to you the IAF ran away as if they were being engaged by all 24 aircraft.
PAF had at least nine IAF jets in sight.

Pakistan won the air battle. The end. Alhamdu'lillah.

Why was IAF so illprepared just one day after the events of 27 Feb?
