What's new

JF-17 Block 3 vs. J-10C:

250 Jf17s
125 J10CPs
75 F16s
450 planes are enough for us.

The airforce can now concentrate on the 5th generation platform.
PAF should have sold enough JF-17's to start an infra set up for prospective 5th gen aircraft. A JV with China on J-31 (or close to something like J-31) instead of securing finance for J-10. In any case, F-16 is the 4th gen, JFT Block III would be the 4.5 gen and the incoming platform would be 5th gen. In the meantime, the UCAVs inducted by PAF would be geared for surface strike and CAS roles. In fact PAF should be poised to integrate ALCMs on UCAVs. The new 5th gen aircraft would then be poised towards air superiority role albeit part of a MR Squadron. A 5th gen aircraft in air sup role would have been the headache that IAF would be facing when sending in the Rafales. This would further relieve F-16s with AMRAAMs for air sup role to compliment the 5th gen fighters while JF-17's (primarily twin seater JF-17B) would be interlinked with UCAVs for precision surface strikes. Lastly, the Mirages can chip in if necessary.

In the past, PAF was matching IAF through quality, now JF-17 has given PAF a minimal chance to bring up inventory numbers to a level that PAF wants but where has the qualitative edge been lost.

PAF inducting a fifth gen fighter before Indians would start a new arms race in the region which i don’t think Pakistan wants and can afford. Also I don’t think PAF has lost qualitative edge because JF-17 it self is technology ahead of many Indian fighters and block 3 especially will be ahead of everything except rafales. J-10C will be on par with rafale so Pakistan overall will still have a edge because we have more J-10C then rafales and our JF-17 and F-16’s have a edge over everything else Indians have.
