Many People missing the point about IRST. Pakistan will use ASELPOD for IRST purposes on JF-17. Just as Pakistan was using Sniper PODS as a substitute for IRST on F-16. Multiple people mentioned here, F-16 CAPS after 27 FEB skirimish were locking IAF jets through SNIPER POD IR sensors

One thing every body is missing is the control stick was planned to be a side stick like on F16s. Due to all electronic digital electric control of 3 Axis a side stick was possible. Although not seen yet but it was definitely planned in block 3

What is interesting is that Vishnu Som is worried by the pace of development and induction of new platforms into the PAF !

I do think PAF need to do a one-off stepwise procurement of 100 Block IIIs, rather than wait for Block VI for the next batch, as by then the Rafales will on line and PAF needs to even things out a lot and Block III can do that.

There has been an impression that there are going to be multiple, or at least, more than one Block-III prototypes. If true, this prototype should not be deemed as the final product. The flight of this Block-III-P-I might have been conducted to test some of the crucial upgrades. Other major additions may be pending, including that of WS-10E (if it has not yet been incorporated). Though, I do not expect any major structural changes.

The significance of the JF17 Integration facility is the ability to integrate new equipment onto the JF17 platform in Pakistan with a closed ecosystem around maintaining the software integration in Pakistan. Will make it possible for more western equipment to be integrated onto the JF17, taking into account western sensitivities etc.

It will also make it easier for homegrown industries to grow by being able to develop and deliver systems directly to the PAF, in particular, the smart guided ammunitions space, etc.

Pakistan likes to develop and deploy its own consumeables to save on long running costs (most of Pakistan industry in around ammunitions, SOW etc ) so this will help alot in that direction.

Expect some interesting stuff to be hanging off the JF17, in about 18months from now!!!!!!

An aircraft would be loaded for the role it is going to play for the mission that day---bombimg run---giving air cover---air superiority---.

And you can just imagine the RCS with this kind of loadout in A2A role... which is really self defeating.
