JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Thank you for the corrections, now the big question would be if they will allow mating of AIM-120Cs with JF-17 ? even if it has Western Radar.

To much risk U.S. isn’t a reliable partner or friend if we do what you say we’ll be flying a plane that’s clawless.

The PAF should call it a day and ask for ToT for the SD-10/PL-12, including the dual-motor rocket technology. It's not as fancy as the PL-15E, but with China's help, we can develop the SD-10/PL-12-series into a longer-ranged air-to-air missile, and with time, perhaps a medium-range SAM (quad-packable, VLS?).

Yes ... LKF will replace current radars on B1 and B2....so All JFT blocks will have AESA

Who said that older aircrafts will have LKF AESA? If required Pakistan will keep only one radar for its entire fleet and speculations of two seperate kinds of RADARS are just speculations. The main reasoning behind this is that Pakistan will likely want in house manufacturing of radar just as it did before so two radars doesn't make sense. Secondly who says PAF will even want to replace older radars in the first place. Lastly RADAR replacement if needed will be done as part of MLU of JF THunder so lets not speculate for at least another decade.

Read previous posts....Chinese sources confirmed this news....

" the LKF601E is not without its way out. This type of radar can be directly installed in-situ in the head space of "Baolong" BLOCK1 and 2, directly replacing the old machine-scan radar. It is entirely possible to use it in the mid-life extension of various third-generation aircraft in the future"

Logic compels the conjecture that existing blocks, at least a majority of them, should get an AESA upgrade at the earliest opportunity for a scheduled overhaul or extended maintenance cycle. Why? Because it is the most cost effective force multiplication that the PAF can factor-in ... also in a very short interval of time. This gives our existing fleet of thunders a tremendous boost in --> situation awareness, combat survivability and weapons delivery capability. This will mitigate to an extent the need to acquire a stop gap platform till Project Azm matures.

It will be done much before due MLU time frame....Both KLJs and LKFs will be integrated in all Blks....we may even go for further diversification

maybe a 2 prong approach and work with China and Turkey in the field of A2A missiles.

But why do we want to complicate an already strained relationship by asking for more favours. The future is to develop the SD10A AND PL15further with the help of the Chinese and develop our missile industry along those lines. We have always gotten the working model of any armament from the Chinese and then looked at what can be done to make it better. Believe me if we persist along those lines the US will come knocking on our doors rather than us going begging to it.
The Chinese are moving ahead at a rapid pace and looking for international recognition. Their interests lie in advancing their misslie inventory along with Pakistan.

It will be foolishness to mate chinese and western tech anymore as chinese tech has gotten better.
If you want to mate it you will get the second tier of both!
