Jet Engine Production in Pakistan

Forget jet engines, first produce basic vehicle or tractor engine to begin with.
70cc,100cc,125cc engines and rickshaws for motorcycles are produced by a very small company based in sindh, they make around 300 of em every day that is 9000 every month.
apart from that 250cc engines for rickshaws and small carries is made on a large scale.
Another company which produces high quality pricison parts for engines is Ravi Autos they also use CNC machines.
We are country of 200million imports just can't fill our needs so if you think that everything is imported and we live in caves etc.You need to first educate yourself on the topic in discussion rather than farting in the comment section rightaway.
Have you designed, tested, developed any tank and aircraft? Ans is No...

If platform is available then people can improve them but working from scratch, it is something different
Wassup troll?

Nope.. ahhh ... Can't say anything now. If say true then you people take as troll.

I think we actually do manufacture tractor engines in Pakistan along with the tractor itself

critical components like Engine Blocks, Sump, Transmission Case, Axle Housing, Hydraulic Lift Cover, Front Axle Support and Centre Housing are all being machined most successfully in-house at MTL from locally sourced castings

You should learn from our Kavery jet engine development. Three decades of experience but no product yet. And we poured resources and sought foreign TOT to make it but failed meserably. To put it mildly it was a dud from start to finish. It is a complex system of engineering and technology only few countries have mastered it. For many Indians this bitter truth is hard to digest.
Well, Kaveri project cost is about $700 million. We got what's worth that much.
Just can't take it above 90kN without falling apart.

Overall, not bad if the Snecma upgrade is a success and then we master the core metallurgy. The design is really good.

We produce engine from small engines for rickshaws and bikea to larger ones like tractors but the engine for cars suv are not locally made . while HIT also manufacturers truck engines i think ?
Its not that we dont have the capacity for it the problem is that the incompetence of the government with bad policies.

I want to know why Pakistan is not proceeding on jet engine production. Is it for lack of technology or lack of finance or any other reason. Detailed discussion is required.

your 3rd post is this question...cant wait for your 1000th post

has nothing to do with govt, its a business decision and based on profit, no business is willing to spend money on developing their own engine, when auto demands in Pakistan exceed 5 million a year then someone will bot for 200K cars not sane businessman will do it.

This is problem in Pakistan and India. We don't have infrastructure for such as complex engineering.

And our baabu's are super duper gifted to us

.
Starting with the basics. We have some ancillary facilities set up. We do not have the metallurgical base and R&D for a lot of the specialities. I agree it can be done but the queation is what time and at what cost. First things first another specialized steel plant producing steel. Second start with basic motor or scootor engine and work up.

Contrary to belief that you need some exotic training to be able to do Mechanical Engineering / Technical work however in reality many oversea workshops have people working on engine with highschool diploma or some advance education

Normally folks in Technical fields which requires working with hand go to physical hands-on training work with Opening complex machines and reassembling them

Ordinary people in western work , make ameture rockets
Or they even put a rocket engine on a car and do car racing

There are two areas which are different

a) Availabiliy to cheaper experimental parts
b) The mechanics sometimes have resources to buy these parts for experimentations

Abundance of parts , means that anyone can take a old engine
1) Clean it
2) Degreese it
3) Open it
4) Replace broken parts
5) Add replacement part
6) Put stuff back together as before
7) Paint it
8) Connect it to power source and test it

We do have some companies which claim to make certain parts but really Government has to develop new industries to manufacture the parts needed for certain projects

Private Mechanics , charge dirty cheap rates in western world they command a nice salary which is why they can also afford their own experiemental parts and projects

Problem at Root Level stuff all done in poor conditions under paied workers at root level
and an industry just can't take shape

Western World

Also the basic level Parts , clearly one can see these are quite simple elements
hardly any thing major

SALVAGE CULTURE
But we will see even our Airforce is in business of "Salvaging parts" from another plane intead of giving out a tender to a Manufaturer to make a copy of that part

salavage parts for plane
salvage parts for car
salvage parts for motor cycle
salvage parts for truck
salvage parts for tank

There is no process to order "Brand new part" locally, KAMRA has had success with Mirage overhaul and JF17 thunder and various projects to great extent but over all we need a bigger entity

We need a professional Tools manufacturing company 10,000-20,000 workers who create various parts for projects. It would not be uncommon to imagine size of company to be around 70,000 workers

Design & Research (Enhanced design skills needed here PHD/BSc/Masters)

New Tools Design / Copy : 10,000 Workers
Testing / Assembly : 10,000 Workers (Concept Testing Juniors Track success/failure )

Civilian Projects (Make parts for every day items in auto sector)
Auto / Truck /bike : 40,000 Workers (Commercial items for general market)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Military Grade Engineering projects
Military Tank : 5,000 Workers
Helicopter / Jets : 5,000 Workers

We are smart nation.
We don't invent wheel.
We made our country by dividing India,
Didn't created one from scratch.
If you can use yours as well as others brain you are a Pakistani. Wait and see.
Project AZM is there to shut your mouth.
Just wait a couple of years.

Pakistan can make jet engines as well as stealth jets with following method:

Give scholarships to top 20 graduated engineers of each engineering departments of the government universities . Send them for masters and Phd to Germany , USA , Russia , Japan ,France and many other developed countries. There may be 1500 candidates in every year of different engineering departments. one billion dollar is sufficient for scholarships .

Establish a MILITARY ENGINEERING RESEARCH institution for them . Provide them facilities and hostels for their research field . Besides this , they will also teach students.

Arrange engineering expo projects in every year in military engineering research institution .

within 2 decades , the nation will get the proud results .

There are many threads already running on this topic so instead of making hundreds of useless threads try to develop habit of research.

I mean do you cast engine blocks there; you can do that work but do these folks do further work to optimise the engines. For example here Toyota manufactures engines locally and we have parts producers here interally; an entire R&D industry is present for further work as well.

No need to get to this level. Still if there was a locally made from scratch in terms of design, modelling, etc vs being outsourced to China, then there is merit for AZM; it will unfortunately be another OEM relabelling made in China

We have seen few brave folks attempt a private firm however they don't have the MAN power to make it happen, with tiny companies the quality will be like some of the private sector UAV

Also the industry needs some protectivism

80-90% Car /Truck / Motorbike , must be made in a Pakistani Engineering Firm and then firm should branch off into High End (NEW product design)
