I live in Hyderabad, people in South India seems normal, but yes the craziness for movies are bewildering with Tamils and Telugus, particularly Telugus, they watch Telugu movies, Hindi movies and even dubbed Tamil movies and still the Telugu film industry has the largest turnover in entire south India.

When Rajkumar passed away in 2000 or so, similar emotions were seen in parts of Karnataka too. @Indischer why you do that?

I traveled in a truck to come out of mysore...... Till gundalpet in a bus which was returning back to its base.... and from gundalpet in a truck (there was no one to block as that stretch is mostly thick forest)

Rajkumar was not just a film star for Kannadiga's, He was the guy behind the movement on perseverance of "Kannada" and i think there is an organisation which i think was founded by Rajkumar...... When he died i got the info in the noon or afternoon, and i was in Koorg for a work, and i was asked to rush back to mysore ASAP, and i did, when eventually reached mysore the emotions were very high...... They were chanting something like Apppajjiii (i dono the exact word)......

I am sure you remember the tension between TN and karnataka when rajkumar was kidnapped

She certainly seemed to have enjoyed the stature but if she was such a saint, why would she end up in prison.

It's Tamilnadu politics,most of it is payed ,some of it maybe true and others are publicity stunt.It's all because of years of brain washing of the local populus ,normal educated people don't give much thought to politics as they know it's corrupted and the once who do won't leave a peaceful life.But things are changing for the better.The verdict on jayalalitha is a welcome act, late but is desicive.
