@Hu Songshan you give me 2 warning for posting a no harm joke and chalk it to derailing or off topic in another thread, and tell me this forum is running at a 3 strike rules, yet I see a lot of this going on and I have probably reported about a hundred times myself. So, did the 3 strike rules only applies to non-ethnic Chinese member where those Chinese here have a license to go off topic??

I suffered the same as you @jhungary.
I reported a lot of Chinese members and false flagged for calling us as "Viet Cong" or "jungle" or "monkey" but they are still safe. I found that Chinese love calling other as monkeys the most. LOL

I love the idea of "12 Warheads and 12 Submarines"
"A Plan To Deploy Nuclear Warheads in Japan" by Nisohachi Hyodo, critic and author Tokyo SHOKUN , Oct 96 pp 202-213
A Plan To Deploy Nuclear Warheads in Japan

. Not sure is there any progress on that theory, because no one could make sure Japanese submarine / SLBM development progress.

OKay ... China diesel engine tech from France Pielstick & Germany MTU, gas turbine tech from Ukraine ... and 100% local production or update. That's all ! Pls don't discuss it again.

Good.
Why don`t Japan build more ships like this??

We are constructing 2 more of these ships of the line. :)

These are extremely large ships, as each are 10,000 tonnes heavy. These are more like Cruisers than they are 'Destroyers'.

.
Atagos have very nice, clean lines, I like the tall superstructure design, looks like armored pagodas. Somehow they remined me of the Yamato class battleships.

The design is a mixture of the Arleigh Burke Class, and also Japanese Naval Architects were actually inspired by the design of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Atago Class of Heavy Cruisers. Let me show you some pictures of those.

PS. Bro, most of the JMSDF Ship Names are actually names of Imperial Japanese Navy Ships. This is why JMSDF is really a Legacy of the Imperial Navy !

Japan Navy could be again on Top of Asia, next decade.
One thing I am so sure. A Made in Japan works as promised.

I see the family resemblence, I got a friend who collects Tamiya scale model WWII battleships, so it was a good way to examine Japanese naval ship designs. I find the tall superstructures very characteristics of IJN. Western ships tend to have shorter heights.

We plan to expand the size and power capability of our already vast Destroyer Fleet. As it stands, our Destroyer Force will be 32 in size after the new Atagos and Akizukis are constructed. We will also develop (developing) a new design of destroyer that is in line with our evolving Naval Doctrine. Ideally, I would like our Destroyer Fleet to be at 50 in number. :)

One thing you will see similar between the two is the design of the stern. Notice that the stern side of the JS Atagos have a sharp drop, almost vertical. The same is also seen in IJN's Atago Heavy Cruisers. Even the design of the bow of said ships, there is a slight curve , on both ships -- there is a linear form of the starboard and port side(s).

We are actually developing new Destroyer Designs. There will be both a quantitative and qualitative increase in number and size of our Fleet. :)

sir, How many aegis destroyers will JSDF have after 2020 compared to usn's 78, PLAN's 20/25 and IN's 3/4 aegis destroyers ?

I think Japan needs at last 36 to 48/50 destroyers to counter any attack from Chinese or Russian Navy :)

By 2020 we should have around 16 AEGIS Destroyers (4 Atagos, 4 Kongos, 8 Akizukis). We will still have an additional 16 destroyers that are not AEGIS. Putting our Destroyer Fleet to 32.

We will have 22 Attack Submarines (Soryus + Oyashios), 11 Light Destroyers (Heavy Frigates), and 6 Destroyer Escorts (Heavy Corvettes), over 30 Mine Countermeasure vessels, 6 Light Carriers, and a host of auxiliary and patrol ships , which are quite numerous.

16 !?!:o: 98 vls on each ship it means...
98*16 = 1500+ missiles :cheesy:
Forget PLAN even Russian Navy can not block Japanese Waters
And look at IN
9 destroyers (5 made in 80s)
And 12 sub + 2 nuclear sub's

:)
