To be fair, Abe tried really hard to opening up russia, part of his key strategy against China was to get on the good side of Russia. Then the Ukraine happened, along the way Aba / Japan have realized that the US was their best bet after all, and they must kick Russia to prove themselves to the US, so now instead they are focusing on the south. Simple cost benefit calculation to achieve their goal.
Ukraine is also allied with America, did they protect Crimea? America would never protect japan militarily if china would take their island, they probably wouldnt even make the amount of sanctions they do against russia and neitehr would other asian countries as there are no EU kind in asia. Russia and us trade is zero thats why its so easy to make sanction by obama but against china i doubt america has the balls. Only the rule of the gun protects your territory

I know you don't care for "communist theory", because your white master told you it was bad. But communist economic theory about the "means of production" is still very relevant here. Marx stressed that those who control the "means of production" hold real power - just having the "fruits of production" is not enough. Right now, Japan is merely living on the "fruits of production" - that is the wealth they've accumulated over the past decades. But their ability to produce is steadily eroding, and their economy is being kicked to the curb by more nimble and more ambitious new Asian economies. It's not a sustainable situation for them because it's just like living on inheritance money.
who tells you the Whites are my master? if true just because I live in the West then you are a true slave as well :woot:

talking seriously, Japan should begin to change the immigration policy. Lessons from many developed countries such as America, UK or Germany have shown a dynamic in population can create a thriving economy. the latter had long refused to become a country of immigrants, until the aging and shrinking population left them no choice. Japan will sooner or later face the hard choice.

I know about Japan, South Korea and Taiwan but do you believe rising China will ever emerge as technological R and D hub of Asia or we will have to look for same old powers.

In 2012, China's share in Total Global R&D Spending was 15.3%. This rose to 17.5% in 2014.

In the same period, Japan's share had been 10.5 and 10.2%, respectively.

We want to see the result in market instead of background data. Right now, China is a world factory but Chinese brands still aren't trusted unlike South Korean or Japanese brands.

Which Chinese brands are not being trusted? I'd like to see hard proof coming from your mouth. You mentioned R&D so show us reliable data where it states Chinese brands are avoided by the Western world. That way it looks more credible.

There are few but mostly people across the world has no idea about Chinese brands even if they use lots of Chinese goods.

I use Chinese products, its here everywhere in India but if you ask anyone of us the Chinese brand names, hardly anyone could answer that.
From your answer i can conclude the following, you formed your opinion based on your own experience and some of your fellow Indians. What you failed here miserably in your critique of Chinese brands is India is not the West, thus you have no real data of Western countries avoiding Chinese brands. Second what Chinese products do you use over there? If it's everywhere in India and it keeps failing why continue to buy Chinese products? Are all these products labeled with made in China but avoid attaching Chinese brand names on them? To me your prejudice is unfounded, there are rubbish to good quality Chinese products. In EU Chinese brands are more than welcome Lenovo/Huawei/Oppo/Xiaomi/Jiayu
